My own source reporting led me to Maye very early in the process.
There was a time I would’ve said #Giants would rather be picking 2 than 1 to avoid making the Maye/Caleb Williams decision.
That opinion changed to McCarthy in convos since Combine. Time to circle back!
Dunleavy is usually fine but there is 0 chance he knows anything. He’s probably just following breadcrumbs like all of us here…with the only different being he gets paid to do it and has better access to team officials/players/support staff etc.
Unfortunately for Dunleavy, nobody of any importance in the draft decision is telling him who they are picking

Have to give Schoen credit for keeping everyone guessing.
+1
Yes. If the Giants don't like Maye, there are a number of reasons why they would want teams to think they did.
I think Caleb is clearly a tier above the QB prospects. It’s very easy to see that.
I was told years ago that the Giants tried to goad the Cowboys into taking a QB. It didn't work only because Jerry differed to the GM.
On the other hand, if they keep saying they want a QB and forces the Vikings, Broncos and Raiders hand to move up in front of them to push one of the WR to them that definitely is possible and makes sense.
Agreed, it’s such a weird concept to lock onto. Nothing about it makes any sense.
They know shit.
They know shit.
Only the great Carnac the Magnificent knows.
At least this makes some sense. The thought that NE, which chooses BEFORE NY, would pick, not the QB they prefer, but the QB NY preferred, is pretty stupid.
Teams do their own scouting, their own evaluations and have their own boards. The Pats are not going to be influenced by what the Giants (reportedly) think, when they get to pick first.
If an NFL team drafts a player based on a lower team hyping a player, then just fire you're entire scouting department and rely on mock drafts

I disagree with this. Giants rumors could absolutely affect what the Pats do. Not saying it's likely, but IMO it's possible. It could affect trade down situations.

Of course. Both points are accurate. But it also presents a better possible trade down option too if the non-QBs are still on the board (Alt, the WRs).

will effect anything the Patriots do. If they want Maye or McCarthy they will just take them at 3. It’s the most ridiculous and idiotic thing I’ve ever heard and makes zero sense.

Great point Eric. Didn't think of that. If they get one of these teams to jump them at 4 or 5 and then they trade back to 8 they can still get a WR and pick up draft capital.

caleb seems locked in #1 but the other 3 seem to be in consideration all over the place.

Jerry is the GM. I'm guessing you are talking about Manziel.
The reason Dallas passed is because Stephen and Will McClay held Jerry hostage for 15 minutes so they could call Zack Martin and tell him he was going to be a Cowboy...
