“We have a contingent trade planned with Minnesota. Our #6 for their two first round picks and a day 2 pick. We will pick a QB and the top WR on our board. If no trade, we will use our #6 pick on BPA. Any more questions? Thanks for coming.”

#NYGiants Schoen - have gotten a lot of calls from people behind us to trade up to six...in fact, a surprising amount already
Basically he gave us a lot of GM speak which is good. My take away is he's open to any proposal . I couldn't get a read if next years number one is on the table.
He did not sound concerned about moving future picks based on who could be available. He referenced a lot of players now staying in school based on NIL.
It's not only scripted, its memorized. It will be their tact if they are unable to draft a QB (which is possible).
Then he can say "as I've told you guys, the expectation is Daniel will be the starter and we are comfortable with our QB room".
It's a predictable tact.

The fact that it is the same wording is telling (at least to me).
Kind of reminds me of that scene in Congress in "Lincoln"... "it's a lawyer's dodge!"
Giants are taking a QB, but one shouldn't be surprised if it's Nix in an unusual trade down and take a different player (WR), then up from Round 2 scenario.
As for Waller, the fact Giants took hard looks at Sinnott and Theo Johnson has me wondering if they know which way he's leaning already and go there in Rounds 2-4.
said they have had a lot of calls from teams behind them who might want to move up. He seemed surprised by the number of those teams. I wonder if those teams want to move up for one of the "big three" WRs or maybe JJM if the Giants don't want him.

I have been told by pro poker players that there are tells when someone is either being deceitful, misleading, or not truthful.
For the most part, Schoen was very forthright.
This makes it easier to read the tells.
A major tell is if someone touches their face or mouth.
Another is if the person raises their eyebrows.
You can look back at the conference and come to your conclusions.
When talking about Jones he was not being forthright.
He reacted when responding that the plan is for DJ to be starting at the beginning of the season.
He reacted when he was talking about players being eliminated for medical reasons. Suggesting that there are concerns about the medical recommendations.
But if you notice he touches his face when asked about JJ moving up the draft. Don't know what to make of it. But it may mean that JJ is not moving up in the Giant's estimation.
I am not certain of the meaning but there was some significant deception there.
He also reacts when saying that the college QBs played extensively and were impressive. I do not know if he is suggesting that the QB play was less impressive than it appeared.
Finally, he was forthright when talking about DJ at the end.
There was no ambiguity.
But I noted Joe said they hope there are no setbacks. A couple times.
For some reason I keep seeing an asterisk, probably just dirt on my glasses.
I still think Jones is not ready at the beginning of camp and starts the season on the PUP. 'Running in a straight line'? That doesn't really sound like a ringing endorsement.
I take away from his comments that teams behind the Giants have Nabers & Odunze ranked very, very highly on their draft boards (assuming there is no way MHjr makes it to #6).
I’d love if someone asked him about Jones playing this fall in light of that injury clause.
But why would they do that the week before the draft? One that they enter with so many questions about QB, in a draft that's (allegedly) a strong draft for QB, and one that they have been very tight lipped about to date? The only people that benefits are fans who want to know what direction they are going... lol

I noticed this too. When he said he was comfortable going into the season with Jones, Lock and DeVito, he noticeably tensed up, started juggling his arms, and lost the smile that was there for much of the other responses. It was very noticeable to me. He did not like answering that question.

Great response to not trade any premium assets for next year unless it's a QB above 6. Trading up in the 2nd makes no sense to me.
Next draft class is supposedly very good for defense, pass rushers and corners notably. Premium positions.

But why would they do that the week before the draft? One that they enter with so many questions about QB, in a draft that's (allegedly) a strong draft for QB, and one that they have been very tight lipped about to date? The only people that benefits are fans who want to know what direction they are going... lol

I noticed this too. When he said he was comfortable going into the season with Jones, Lock and DeVito, he noticeably tensed up, started juggling his arms, and lost the smile that was there for much of the other responses. It was very noticeable to me. He did not like answering that question.

Schoen says they had 170 players on the board that went back to college.
That is an amazing number.
So that means they already have grades (albeit written in pencil) on 170 guys for next year…another reason to not mortgage the future with a trade up.

Great response to not trade any premium assets for next year unless it's a QB above 6. Trading up in the 2nd makes no sense to me.
Next draft class is supposedly very good for defense, pass rushers and corners notably. Premium positions.
