Listened to it & it made me depressed AF about Neal. Sy thinks-& I am starting to think so too-that Neal's problems aren't as much physical, but more between the ears. And I worry if there's any coming back from that.

That's OK. If he doesn't work out, he can get a job flipping burgers.
New OL coach. They need to show improvement or the staff could
be fired. The OL coach, imo, gets to make that decision. We'll see what happens. I've been saying for years now since Columbo that our OL coach could be the biggest addition we make. But I'm switching it up now. I truly believe that Eluemunor can be a great mentor to Neal. This guy just seems to have the right make up. He seems very positive and that might help Neal out.

Giants have been so dreadful over the years evaluating OL in general. I’ve noticed that the voices banging the table year after year for them to keep drafting OL has finally grown quiet. I mean they have sucked drafting all positions across the board minus DT and perhaps DB, but this team is the worst at evaluating OL among all position groups. Until they fully fix their draft room and philosophy I rather they not draft OL anymore. I hope that Neal can turn it around and get off the Erik Flowers career trajectory. I think Elemenour is likely to win the RT job, hopefully Neal can find something at OG if they give him a shot.
Did others hear today that the ankle sprain we heard about last season was actually a bone break(s)? Why was the training and medical staff either not aware of that, why were they letting him hobble around trying to play in that condition? We’re the coaches aware? WTF.

Part of my write up on Neal from the "Scouting Report" section of the site:
"In 2023, Neal suffered a concussion in training camp that caused him to miss two valuable weeks of practice. A right ankle injury nagged him for all of October, causing him to also miss two games. When he returned in early November, he broke his left ankle, an injury which required surgery."
to quickly process the pass rusher coming at him with space.
You have to be able to adjust to the speed, power, angle of attack from the pass rusher. Anchor on a bull rush verse sliding on an outside pass rush or protecting against an inside spin move.
The ability to process what the pass rusher is doing and adjust accordingly is what you need to have to be a good tackle.
That is why players with far less talent physically can far outplay the players with much greater physical ability.
I have not seen any ability of Neal in the mental processing aspect of playing tackle.

Again, he did this in the SEC for four years, against the nation's best talent.
Sy made the same point that I've been making... it's just weird because he has already proven he can do it. There is a reason why teams had him as the top OL in the draft.

In a big man's ankle with swelling especially, it can be very hard to see some small bone breaks.
This is such a pivotal draft for the NYG, Daboll and Schoen. If they don't get this right (as in get a franchise qb or have enough draft capital to get one in 2025), then they are screwed if you ask me. That's why I think they may be willing to give up a king's ransom for Maye if they can since he's the guy they seemingly have real conviction in.

Understand that if they draft Maye, you don't want him playing in 2024. All the experts seem to be on the same page with that.

Not everyone can handle failure, especially a top draft pick. Gonna get knocked down, the question is do you keep getting back up?

I think he’s just thinking too much, that’s not unusual with young players. Getting hurt last year set his progression back too. I really think we see a different Neal this year.

and we passed on a good guard that is locked into the starting job in Buffalo to draft him...

Yeah, that was a head scratcher passing on Ocyrus Torrence or however you spell it.

Sy loved Torrence too.
I think Carmen Bricillo will do something about it.
