If it were your decision, what do you do in Round 1?

Mike from Ohio : 4/20/2024 10:56 am
Assume the first two picks are Caleb Williams to Chicago at #1 and Jayden Daniels to the Commanders at #2.

New England is on the clock and they are open to a trade down, but nothing less than #6, #47, 2025 #1 and #3.

1) I trade up to #3 and select ______.

If you don’t make the trade up to #3. Let’s assume the Vikings do and select Drake Maye.3rd The Cardinals have already said they will swap #4 for #6, #70 when they are on the clock.

2) I trade up to #4 to select_____.

The picks at #4 and #5 are the unknowns in this scenario.

3) I stay at #6 and hope to get one of (Name 3).

4) I trade back from #6 with my ideal landing spot being #___ to select _____.

It’s a BBI mad lib!
Stay at 6

If you didn’t get #3 the Vikings did at they took Maye. McCarthy and Nabers may still be there, but you need one more guy (Denver may trade up with AZ and grab McCarthy at #4).

Rules are rules!
Don't thnk any of us know what the Giants think of the QBs

Trade up for one that they LOVE and believe will be a star. If they don't believe then don't draft the QB. In that case, take a WR or trade down.

We don’t. That’s why the question is what would you do if it were your decision. There is already plenty of conjecture on what the Giants will do.

OK

#1 pass
#2 make that move take JJM
#3 depends on how #3 & #4 fall
#4 only if I also work a deal to select Nix or Penix
Draft Rome Udunze!
Fishmanjim57 : 4/20/2024 11:15 am : link
Then draft BPA thereafter with the other five picks.
Trade up to 4 for JJM,
BleedBlue46 : 4/20/2024 11:15 am : link
If he's not there then trade up to 4 for Maye. Try to get it done for pick 6, 107 and 2025 2nd.
If one of the top 4 QBs is there at 6
cosmicj : 4/20/2024 11:17 am : link
Pick him. If they are gone, trade down to the 10-15 region and pick Penix.

Under no circumstances trade the 2025 #1.

No cheating! Getting to #4 costs you #70. Cardinals won’t go lower.
Trade with Denver
Dankbeerman : 4/20/2024 11:26 am : link
get 12, 2025 1st and Surtain.

draft Murphy/Newton at 12.

trade 47 for Aiyuk.

Amagadjie at 70

Milton at 107

RB in 5(may require slight move up from 166 or dowm from 107)

TE/S in 6

Yeah, get Aiyuk and Surtain with no rookie qb contract. That sounds good for the cap.

That's fine then.
I
AcidTest : 4/20/2024 11:29 am : link
would take JJM or Maye at #6, or perhaps move up to #5 to do so if the cost was no more than #70. I would take them over any of the "big three" WRs. If they are both gone by #6 and I couldn't trade up, I would take the WRs in this order: MHJ, Odunze, Nabers, or trade down if someone offered a haul of picks.

I like it! I think you may be a little bit generous with the deal from the Broncos, but coming away from this draft with a #1 corner, a #1 WR and the other talent would be great. The only thing I would do differently is grab Penix at #12 (if still there) and obviously someone other than Milton at #107 if I landed Penix.

That is what the draft is all about. Especially since he will be this generation’s LT!
Best WR left at 6
bigblueny : 4/20/2024 11:48 am : link
Or trade down. I’ve warmed up to the idea of trading down. Still landing a high end receiver and accruing valuable draft capital would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, get Aiyuk and Surtain with no rookie qb contract. That sounds good for the cap.
There is a rookie QB, and 2 opportunites for another rookie QB in 25 when the money you would pay in extensions would acctually hit the cap.
I am happy with almost anyway the blanks are filled in
mfjmfj : 4/20/2024 11:59 am : link
It seems to me there is no obvious solution - as opposed to not taking SB or taking Josh Allen which were obvious - so I will trust the Giants' evaluation.

If they trade the farm for Maye or McCarthy yay. If they stay and take Rome or Nabers, yay. If they trade back and get more capital, yay.

I guess if they stay and take Alt or Brock or Dallas, I will be frustrated.
At that point I opt for the trade down. Ideally with Denver
j_rud : 4/20/2024 12:02 pm : link
and since it was a rumor, the Surtain deal would be incredible. Then turn around and add Murphy or Dallas Turner at 12. Build a real defe sive identity. Also multiple firsts next year to address QB.

I'd love to get a QB but I'm really warming to the team building route a trade down would take us.
Stay at 6

QB or WR

When you need a WR1 and a QB, you really can’t even think about
Ivan15 : 4/20/2024 12:50 pm : link
Trading down. Whoever is available, you are getting a Pro Bowl WR or you are getting a potential franchise QB. I don’t care how deep the draft is.
I stay at 6.
Mike from SI : 4/20/2024 12:54 pm : link
If there's a QB I like, I draft him. If not, I either take the best WR or trade down if I'm blown away by an offer.

This roster has so many holes that I would not want to trade up. However, that opinion is based on my current knowledge. If I had all of Schoen's knowledge and fell in love with a QB, I'd consider it.
Trade Down
Jeffrey : 4/20/2024 12:58 pm : link
With Denver Minnesota or New Orleans. The take the No. 1 CB.
It's a lot
UberAlias : 4/20/2024 1:02 pm : link
But I would consider trading up for Maye, TBH. I think he's worth being aggressive for.
Stay at six and take MHJ/Nabers/Odunze in that order
The Mike : 4/20/2024 1:13 pm : link
And then try to trade up into the first round to get Penix.

I would only trade back with a generous offer like the Denver deal being discussed - #12 this year, their first next year and Patrick Surtain. Then I would take Penix at #12 and trade our second pick this year for one of the top WRs being discussed - Aiyuk, Hopkins or Higgins.

If Schoen executes this properly, he should come away with Penix and an elite wide receiver by the end of day in either case.
I think the GMs know more than some think.
DonQuixote : 4/20/2024 1:21 pm : link
Let's say the Vikings move up to 3. The only reason you would not stand pat is if another team is going to jump over you into 4 or 5.

The Giants and this other party are potentially bidding for the 4th spot. It's not like you have to sit there and guess completely blind. The team at 4 is going to shop the pick to us and others, or not, and just stand pat.

If the number 4 stands pat, the same logic for 5 and so on.

Either get Maye or draft Nabers
Trade down with Denver
Earl the goat : 4/20/2024 1:35 pm : link
Trade 6 for Denver’s 12 and Surtain and this years third and fourth

Then trade down another few spots if available for another 2nd rounder

Draft
Brian Thomas WR

Now you got two second round picks

DT. Byron Murphy
LG. Cooper Beebe

Now you got two third rounders and two fourth rounders

Jaylen Wright RB
Theo Johnson TE
Kitan Oladapo SS
Jordan Jefferson

We now have two CB1’s

If need be wait for QB next year
FINISH THE OL AND DL
Festina Lente : 4/20/2024 1:40 pm : link
EVERYTHING else is secondary IMO
I want a QB in the first round
Sean : 4/20/2024 1:55 pm : link
I don't care how, trade up or trade down. Stay at 6. Just get one of Daniels, Maye, McCarthy, Penix or Nix. I trust the evaluation.

Any need this team has isn't close to the need of QB.
Trade down and pick Latu
Cyrus the Great : 4/20/2024 2:30 pm : link
Then select Rattler in round two. I know we just got Burns, but I don't want a pass rush that is just good enough. I want one that can win a super bowl.
6 and 70 won't get you 4
Eli Wilson : 4/20/2024 2:40 pm : link
More like 6, 47 and next year's 2nd. Not that it's 100% accurate, but you can test it out on the PFN mock draft simulator.

I'd stay at 6 and if you love a player there take him. If not, trade down with a team looking for either - the QB you don't like that's there or to jump the Titans for whichever OT they want.
A good player is going to be there at 6
jhibb : 4/20/2024 2:47 pm : link
with either a stud WR or one of the QBs other people are saying to trade up for being available. So stay put unless someone inquires about jumping in front of the Titans to pick Alt, in which case I see what the Titans might offer to simply switch spots.

Sorry, didn't follow the rules. In the proposed situation, I pick #3 - stay put and (with CW, JD, DM gone) select Harrison, Nabers, or McCarthy. UNLESS #4 trading with Titans is a possiblitiy, in which case I still likely pick one of those same three.
#1 Trade up and take Drake Maye

Go for the brass ring.

If I could trade up to #1 I would and select Caleb Williams.

Trade Up To #4 and Select Maye Or McCarthy
BlueVinnie : 4/20/2024 3:36 pm : link
Easy decision for me. I'd be happy with either QB. Giving up #6 and #70 for (potentially) my franchise QB is a complete no brainer. I retain my #1 for next year. Yes, #70 may cost me a chance at Benson or Brooks but good RBs are available on day 2 and even day 3 in every draft.

This would result in one less draft pick this year but that doesn't bother me (and shouldn't bother anyone). I get my franchise QB without paying a huge cost. I begin to fill the rest of the holes in 2025 via the draft and free agency. Yes, there are many holes on the team but I've filled the biggest one without sacrificing multiple premium picks.
Work the phones to at least double my number of day 1-2 picks and go
