If the Giants Had 5 Wins

Samiam : 4/20/2024 8:21 pm
If the Giants had lost to the Eagles in the last game, would we be drafting ahead of the Chargers?
Yes
Optimus-NY : 4/20/2024 8:22 pm : link
There's a huge difference between 5 and 6 in this draft.

Due to SOS. We would have been picking 5th.
Giants did not quit and beat the Eagles
US1 Giants : 4/20/2024 8:35 pm : link
That counts for quite a bit for the coaching staff. It is also always nice to beat the Eagles.
And if we win 3 more games we make the playoffs
Rudy5757 : 4/20/2024 8:40 pm : link
I’ll take the win over the Eagles. Pick another game.

I 100% agree! Daboll has the locker room. That’s what you want in a coach, command of the locker room.
The near wins and near losses canceled out.

Not trading Saquon was a huge mistake though. I don't go back on the wins and losses, I hate that. Nevertheless, not trading Saquon wad idiotic.

Yup. Same place the Giants were when they blew getting Chase Young and had to settle for Andrew Thomas.

God forbid history repeat itself.
Should be noted -
The Dude : 4/20/2024 9:07 pm : link
Doesn't matter how hard you root...for a win or loss. I've noticed that over the years. NYG is drafting 6th.

Really we needed 2 more losses to make a huge difference, then we would be pick 3, maybe even 2 depending on tiebreaker for equal SOS with Commies.

If we want the QB at 4 we can trade with AZ, it's not a huge difference. The big difference is with 2 more losses. We just blew it not trading Saquon for whatever we could get even a medium pepsi!

Qb is the biggest thing for any team. I’d say a tad different. Might also be depleting our future to move up.

Pepsi!

5 vs 6 isn't huge. If we want the 4th QB we can get him at 4. 2 more losses would have made the difference. We were 3 plays away from 9 wins and 3 plays away from 3 wins, it balanced out. The mistake was not trading Saquon.

Wouldn’t we still need to move up and wouldn’t the Vikes still offer a king’s ransom for Ari’s pick? I don’t see this as being that much different than where we currently are…other than mopping the floor with Philly’s starters.
People seem to forget
Bruner4329 : 4/20/2024 9:26 pm : link
That we easily could have won 2 or 3 more games. The difference between winning and losing is sometimes so minuscule.
IMO, this is a 2 QB draft...
sb from NYT Forum : 4/20/2024 9:26 pm : link
...so I am not worried about being 6th instead of 5th or even 4th. MHJ would be nice though.

3 games: the Bills debacle, the missed field goal by Crosby signed off the bench vs Rams, and the Jets collapse.

It's true. I mean they may be as good as Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield. Yay!
Rooting for losses
jvm52106 : 4/20/2024 10:57 pm : link
Is pathetic. We wouldn't be drafting 1 or 2 so we still wouldn't control anything.

I don't care what anyone says, once you start playing the rooting for losses game you can forget winning anytime soon..

yeah, agree. Ask the Browns fans if they would trade wins for always drafting top 5. My guess is no.
Giants vs Chargers
ray in arlington : 4/20/2024 11:40 pm : link
If PHI beat NYG in week 17, both NYG and LAC are 5-12 and we go to SOS.

What actually happened in the 2023 season was:

NYG opponents finished with 148 wins
LAC opponents finished with 153 wins

If PHI beat NYG, LAC total would be unchanged because LAC didn't play PHI or NYG. The NYG total would increase to 150, which is still less than LAC. So NYG would pick ahead of LAC in this case. Note that when one changes a result one needs to look at the effect on the SOS of both teams involved in the tie.

I wonder what we could have gotten. I always thought he would not get much more than a mid rounder. But given the contract he got from Philly, maybe we could have a 2nd or a 1st. The mid rounder we basically get back in a comp pick, but boy would that extra 2nd or 1st be nice. And if we got lucky we might have lost another game or two! Just not the Philly game. I would never give that up.
Daboll should have prepared the team

Well, I mean, Mara did feel like he owed it to Saquon to sign a contract with the Eagles, so...
Not trading Barkley was a big mistake,
Simms11 : 4/21/2024 10:34 am : link
especially if they knew they weren’t going to re-sign him. They would have also had the ability to control where he went too! 😕

I don't see the harm in a fan rooting for losses. It doesn't in any way affect how the Giants play or whether they win. It's simply an attitude or a wish some fans might have. Let them root if they wish.
Last season was terrible in so many ways.
Dave in Hoboken : 4/22/2024 2:09 am : link
Those meaningless wins might have cost us a franchise QB.
This is why I was rooting for losses
Formerly TD : 4/22/2024 6:54 am : link
Except for the Eagles game..

Pats would have been a nice loss. The DJ “comeback” game, too. He should have just sucked for one more quarter like he did the rest of his short season.

Oh well.. maybe we “settle” for Penix and he becomes the best QB of the bunch.

I suspect any offers were not a 1st or 2nd. RB just isn't a position where trades happen at that price, if at all
