It seems practically everyone here has given up on both of these guys or at least doesn’t even include them in the conversation.
I don’t recall seeing either guys run much with the pigskin last year to properly judge them. I think their combined total of carries was about 30.
And wasn’t Gray a guy who Schoen drafted last year in round 5 ….and many were telling us this kid has much to like and will surprise everyone . Oh yeah? Well, we know he can’t field punts but we don’t need him for that. Can he compliment Singletary…that’s all we need from him? In fact can either of these two guys be a good complimentary back to do what Singletary probably can’t do well?
If yes, then why sweat over picking up another 5th round RB when I’m sure we have other more pressing needs with our last 3 picks after round 3? LB , DT, S, TE
Disclaimer: I’m assuming we would have already drafted a WR, QB, and CB with our first 3 picks.
I believe that the Giants will add a few more RBs either in the draft or UDFA. But I think a vet will be brought in to compete. Singletary has never been a workhouse back. There most likely will be 3 guys carrying the load.
Any game film of them running behind last year's OL is basically useless.
As far as Brightwell goes, I think he was one of the better ST players, so he might stick on that alone as they are trying to upgrade ST play.
I am confident there is a plan in place dependent on how things fall next weekend.
I’ll say this. This regime is to blame if the running game stinks this year. They had the chance to develop the running backs and they didn’t. If Gray has another bad year, it’s in Daboll.
We haven’t forgotten about them but Brian Daboll sure did.
Is there actually any evidence that there were teams offering to trade for him?

Few teams have to rely on their third string QB for multiple games. Giants did.
Why they didn’t give Gray more carries late was just so stupid.
are way, way too harsh about Eric Gray.
Way!
Brightwell is a role player. He’s good on specials, doesn’t hurt the team when he’s put in the game and can be functional in a lot of different ways. You need guys like him on the roster, unfortunately they’re also some of the first guys to go in numbers crunch situations.
Gray needs another year, he didn't get much of a chance to show last season. Frankly I don't know what he can do at this point.
Gray had limited production in 2023. He seemed to like to run left and gained a little yardage.
Brightwell, Gray and Corbin needs to show something in training camp. One of them may hit.
That's by calculated choice. It's all about the passing game, it works at Buffalo, sort of.
lol….this visual got the point across for me very nicely

How does a guy who only has 17 carries look bad all year. That averages to 1 carry per game. Are you saying He looked bad in that one carry he had each game?
17 carries for 48 yards

That’s all well and good. Then why invest a draft pick in Eric Gray? Why sign Singletary?
Probably could have gotten the same production for less. Just sign some against running back for cheap, like they did under Judge.
