"...a preliminary look at next year’s QB class suggests that it likely won’t be quite as good as this year’s group; however, it also won’t be the wasteland some folks have been predicting."
GBN's ranking contains 26 QB Prospects. Here are the Top 5:
1. Shedeur Sanders (Colorado)
2. Quinn Ewers (Texas)
3. Carson Beck (Georgia)
4. Jalen Milroe (Alabama)
5. Riley Leonard (Notre Dame)
Recent "insider" information points to the Giants trading up for a QB this Thursday. If they decide to pass, the good news is the cupboard is hardly bare this time next year. And if the Giants do indeed select a QB (and forgo one of the top 3 WRs), be prepared to finish with a worse record this season as J.J. McCarthy or Drake Maye will probably be on the sidelines for several games.

New Window )
Riley Leonard … and Eric would need a new server farm to deal with the fallout.
If you hate the likely cost to go from 6 to 3 for Maye you're gonna love going from 14 to 6 next year for Carson Beck. Ouch
My only point for the last few months is just that, does it get easier than picking 6 in a deep QB draft? Take an elite WR or trade down but do you really see a path forward for the QB position in those scenarios other than "it'll work out probably"? Honest question bc no one actually wants to give up extra picks while passing on other blue chips
I’d prefer to get Maye and McCarthy this year.
I just don't see it with Jalen Milroe. I must be missing something.
I have no problem drafting a QB this week, but right now the Giants offense has (by my count) just on plus player -- Andrew Thomas. (Maybe add Jon Runyan, Jr.?) The offense could be scarily bad once again in 2024 while J.J. McCarthy or Drake Maye are getting NFL-ready. In the meantime, I'm just hoping the recent O-line FA acquisitions bolster a decade-long pathetic unit.
Yss, it will change. Guys on that list might develop further or could easily fall off the map with a poor year/lagging team. And usually one or two other QBs come from way back into the mix.
But everyone knew Caleb & Maye so they just added on
Next year could be like 2019 (Murray, Jones, Haskins), 2021 (Willis, Corral) or 2022 (Pickett)
Guys are not guaranteed to emerge and in a position you are able to draft
Happens all the time. How about Burrows, he went #1 and is a definite franchise quarterback. Before he transferred to LSU for his senior year, he was a benchwarmer for Ohio State who never got on the field.
I am not "banking" on next year when the opportunity is this year.
I am getting tired with the, bank on more losses with your rookie QB sitting on the sidelines..
if we don't draft him and take say a WR, I see no change win wise from that either. Jones is done here -at least by all signs right now he is (and should be), Lock is probably starting and we then have Devito...
Someone said we have no PLUS players on offense outside of Thomas.. Maybe but we have potential players in WDR (he was showing late in the season he can be a weapon), Hyatt to hopefully develop with a QB who will throw the ball deeper, JMS with actual guards next to him should develop, JE and MM hopefully healthy and being young guys to push the vets we signed..
Again, if you want to buy a bunch of fancy chairs and put them around a folding table that is your prerogative- but I prefer upgrading the table/center piece first..

on that list that makes me want to wait until next year for a QB. That is now - talk to me in 8 months...
Riley Leonard … and Eric would need a new server farm to deal with the fallout.
There should be a BBI rule that posts on this site show Leonard like this:
Riley Leonard (Duke/Notre Dame)
I love it… Too funny!!! (:-)

If they don’t get their QBs in 2024 add NYG, Denver and LV
Might be ready to move on from their QBs add NO, AZ
Did you see USC's spring game? ;)
If Moss plays well, he'll move up rapidly. You can't move him into the upper portions of these rankings based on the Holiday Bowl.

I did not see the Spring Game, but I'd put more stock into a Bowl Game than a Spring game.
I like that he's been at USC going on year 4, he's going to be put in a good situation to have a big year, I'm just saying, he's not on the radar as a top ten, let alone top 25 QB prospect?
He needs to hang on to the starting job first. Maiava is on his heels and could be pushing for the job once he gets more experience in the system.
But yeah, lots of things can change between then and now.
I'm actually a big Jaxon Dart fan and he's the guy to watch for a potential big jump. His ypa, rushing ability, td to int ratio, gamer mentality, athleticism, and arm all point up to me.
I'm not as big on Beck myself, but maybe once I study him more I'll see more potential like with JJM. Milroe, nope I don't see it yet. Sanders I think has a lot of potential but if you had issues with CW's flashy personality you'll have more with SS. Riley Leonard, could be a plus Daniel Jones, I don't see it with him yet. Ewers has potential, not sure if he might have issues with reading defenses, interesting to see how he does with out 2 projected 1st round picks at wr and a 2nd-3rd rd TE.
My two early favorites are Dart and Ward.

He does, but I don't think that will be an issue, most coaches don't announce a starting QB until the season to keep players from transferring.

Hooker is Detroit's next QB up after Goff.
Too bad he won't start again next year with Ewers returning. Might end up staying an extra year unless his junior year is dominant.

If we don't get our franchise QB this year or next year we will really suck and probably picking first in 26. And we will have the rest of the league in the palm of our hands and wait for it ......Draft Arch Manning with the first overall pick in 2026. Seems like a good plan.

Given the family history, Manning would most likely stay in school at least 4 years.

Agreed, so Mara can ride DJ until at least 2026.
