NGT: Broncos pick up 5th year option on CB Patrick Surtain

On its face, seems like they'd be less apt to throw him in as trade bait to move up in the draft, as had been speculated. Anybody see it differently?

Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Pro Bowl CB Patrick Surtain, per source.

This could have been a huge 'get' for NYG at a dire position of need across from Banks.

I'd imagine the team acquiring him would give him a contract in March of 2025 regardless?

if the plan is to trade him. Ideally you’d want to give the trading partner the option, although said tea would almost certainly do it.

I don’t believe the Broncos are trying to move into the top 4.⎌I think they know the cost would be too steep, even with Surtain in the package, as they have so few draft assets. I think Nix makes almost too much sense for them.

Teams interested in Surtain would only be interested

if they can keep him long term so I don’t see this as any barrier of entry at all for a trade.

That said the trade rumors seem kinda made up.
