Per Prettyrickey. I know; it's a Twitter rumor, but this will have some potential implications for the Giants if they're boxed out of their QB on Thursday:
1. Goff will not be an option in the 2025 FA market if they punt on QB this year
2. If they miss on Maye and don't love the other options at 6, do they pick up the phone and inquire about Hooker? This is based on Schoen showing a lot of interest in him last year.
Because he's a day 2 pick that will theoretically be sitting on the bench for the entirety of his contract. The Lions could probably recoup a 2nd rounder who will immediately help them on the field for their Superbowl window.
The Giants may not love the value of any non-Maye guys at six, and based on their scouting from last year, may rate Hooker similar to the 2nd tier of Qbs this year. If you can can get him for a 2nd or 3rd, it's a better return than using your sixth pick or playing games by trading down or trading back up in the 2nd..
We also know the Giants are giving every appearance of wanting to move off of Jones, and that things could still potentially go south in the draft. With all that considered, why would it be crazy to think that calling the Lions isn't an option Schoen would consider?
"The Lions aren't going to part with him." Why exactly? They are in a Superbowl window and are going to rely on a backup QB whose never seen a snap in the NFL? Why not consider flipping him for a pick that could help you on the field immediately?
Right? This is one of the stupidest ideas that just keeps getting thrown out there repeatedly. Can't wait for tomorrow night just to be rid of all these dumb theories. I'd rather draft someone in the 2nd or 3rd than trade a pick that high for someone nobody outside of the Lions organization has seen play in what? A year and a half?

It's not a crazy thought. Not crazy to think the Giants would show an interest and not crazy to think the Lions would part with him.

I don't care about Hooker either way because I've literally never seen the guy play. I only know that Schoen seemed to like him and he was part of 2023 30 visits, which says something given their commitment to Jones in that offseason.

Thank you. I guess I'm not understanding the uproar. "Nobody has seen him play" - did his college tape get lost in a fire?
They are doing opposite day. They drafted Jones with no injury history and he can't stay on the field. They just figure "why not get a guy who got all his injuries out of the way already?"
