#2 is a doozy!
1. This is the most quarterback-heavy first round of all-time
2. The Giants and Jets swap spots after the Vikings and Broncos trade up
3. Three Texas teammates (and a Clemson star) ruin mock drafts
4. Brandon Aiyuk gets traded from the 49ers to the Chargers
5. The Rams do not make a first-round pick … again
2. The Giants and Jets swap spots after the Vikings and Broncos trade up
"After the Vikings and Broncos empty the coffers to get into the top five in a way that Giants general manager Joe Schoen is not willing to do, MetLife Stadium’s co-inhabitants make a trade involving No. 6 and No. 10."
"What makes this tricky is that — other than quarterback — the teams have similar needs at receiver (Rome Odunze, Malik Nabers and Marvin Harrison Jr.), tight end (Brock Bowers) and offensive tackle (Joe Alt, Olu Fashanu, Taliese Fuaga and JC Latham). Schoen and Joe Douglas share some intel on their own projections and what they think teams in between are thinking to get the job done."
"What makes it possible is that the Jets are in win-now mode — willing to deal future picks — and the Giants have holes all over the roster. Start the package with a mid-rounder this year and a 2025 second-rounder."

I'd probably rather stay at #6 as well, but there are indications that the Giants are considering trading down. I'd rather do so in the second or third round because we have a chance to get a premium player at #6, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they did so in the first round.
If they could get the Jets third and use it on Milton, then moving 6-10 they get someone like Rome or Bowers if either are available and you still have lots to work with this draft.
I think you could even plan to let DJ go after that kind of a draft too, for those who don't want him to risk injury. Just start Lock and put Tommy Cutlets as the primary backup until Milton is ready.
It's amazing how quickly our offensive skill position players have gone from formidable/decent to possibly worst in the league. Hopefully our OL improvements work out. As bad as we need QB, we need real game-breakers on O even more.
I don't feel bad at all going into the season with Lock at QB. I'm not saying counting on him to be our QB1 of the future, but getting by for now while we upgrade talent at WR/TE/RB and get the OL to gel would be fine for me.
Would need more help this year.
Would need more help this year.
I think that’s the starting point for negotiations.
However, I think we can probably squeeze a little more from the jets here.
Odunze
Turner
Bowers, the top CBs, the rest of the top OL didnt visit.
if 5 QBs go bc DEN trades up for Penix, then they will be guaranteed to get a player they visited.
im skeptical they will pick in top 10 a player they didn't visit, but i guess you never know.
If MIN moves up for QB at 4 and DEN moves up with LAC to get a QB at 5, then i could see something like this unfolding, though the NYG would be giving up MHJ or whoever their #1 overall non-QB is in that scenario.
No Giants fan would support that move, nor would Mara enjoy it.
Plus the comp is horrible. mid round and a future 2? HA
just a guess but id want their 3rd + 4th this year, plus a 2nd next year. that would be a pretty heavy premium by the points. dont think they would do their 2025 first for a non-qb pick.
QB or elite WR prospect will be there
so i think you need to get next year's #3 at minimum, but more likely im holding out for next year's #2 since they are coming up for an elite player (sort of like Houston did last year for Will Anderson).
CARDINALS RECEIVE:
Round 1, 2023: No. 6 (from Los Angeles) -- OT Paris Johnson
Round 3, 2023: No. 81; Pick traded to Tennessee -- RB Tyjae Spears
LIONS RECEIVE:
Round 1, 2023: No. 12 (from Houston through Cleveland) -- RB Jahmyr Gibbs
Round 2, 2023: No. 34 -- TE Sam LaPorta
Round 5, 2023: No. 168 (compensatory selection); Pick later traded back to Arizona -- LB Owen Pappoe
The fukkin Jets can kiss my ass.
Read it over and doesn’t seem a Giants pick is listed.
