They've scouted him more than any other team if I'm not mistaken. The interest in JJM is legit too, but he's their number 2 choice. Giants need to come out of this draft with one of them, preferably Maye IMO.
And while there is interest in this QB class, I'm predicting Schoen doesn't want to pay the QB tax to move up and he's content with plan B, which is being perfectly content running it back with Jones.
JJM talk in the last week and if the Giants heard NE was interested in JJM maybe you start floating your interest in him to thwart them from dealing with Minnesota or to push New England to take JJM at 3..
Who knows but the Giants being interested in a QB is without question.
Mid-to-late 1st after a trade up. I think this purely based on the complete lack of smoke about any interest in him. Also I have an absurd hope that the Giants have finally learned how to not telegraph their intentions. Yeah. Not likely. But somebody needs to put a prediction in for Nix. So there it is.
for sure we like Maye... I don't know if we take JJM over Nabers though and this site will freak out. I almost think the Giants hope someone jumps them for JJM.
All this work being done on QBs. Signing Lock and telling him he's competing for the job. Spending the most time of any team with McCarthy pre draft.
Option A - trade up to 3/4 for Maye
Option B - trade up to 4/5 or take McCarthy at 6
Option C - slight trade down and draft Penix (maybe drop down to NYJ slot)
The order they have is Maye then JJ. If one falls to 6 they take him. Otherwise it’s Nabers.
Pennix isn’t in the mix at 6 but if he gets into the 20s the Giants consider it for their 2 and 4.
I hope we go WR. I don’t want a situation where a QB comes in here to a terrible O and struggles because of it. No money, no skill position talent and no draft picks is a terrible situation if we trade up for a QB

Lock and DeVito will be the cannon fodder for this season while Maye or JJ gets up to speed.
But call me a lunatic for spelling it out this way.
The Giants favor Maye > JJMC. Couldn’t tell you by how much, but it seems they do at least a little.
If the Patriots don’t select Maye third overall, he’s a Giant, plain and simple. If the team wants to get him at 3, and the Pats prefer JJMC, they make a deal and get him. If the Pats take Maye, it’s a moot point.
If the Patriots take Maye third, Minnesota then needs to gauge the same thing as New York. How much below Maye is JJMC? Worth trade up for or not? It’s have to be with LAC, not ARI.
In a bidding war, the Giants beat Minnesota for the third pick for Maye. But they lose the bidding war to Minnesota if they are battling for JJMC with the fifth pick.
So it’s:
Chicago: Williams
Washington: Daniels
New England: Maye, or trade back
New York: Maye if trade up, will likely lose all top-4 choices if NE takes Maye
Minnesota: JJMC if trade up to LAC
McCarthy minimal interest
Penix some interest, higher than JJM but lower than Maye. Won't be in our range though.
Nix surprise interest we would consider trade up into late 1st for him if he falls and we go WR.
I watched that JJ video that was poster earlier today
but not enough to trade up for. I think it's always been Maye and they will trade up for him. If we leave round 1 with either Maye or McCarthy I will be thrilled.
And will try to trade up for whoever is left assuming NE takes one of them. But if they were both on the board, I have a feeling they would go for Maye. They scouted him longer and I think he has more of that gunslinger/Josh Allen vibe that Daboll probably likes.
Maye is the guy. Trade up to four if necessary, but under no circumstances trade your 2025 first round pick. Otherwise, if he is taken by the Pats or we are outbid at four for Maye, stay pat at six and take one of the three WRs. Don't get cute trading back unless an absolute haul is proffered. But whether we keep the pick or trade it, do whatever is necessary to get Michael Penix at some point in the latter part of the first round or early second round.
or McCarthy. Not convinced Schoen will be willing to part with a 2025 1st to move up. Trade back is in play for the right offer if getting the QB fails. I don't expect the stupid decision to take Penix at pick 6.
I think this is the road we're headed down too as of now.

Thus, there is a lot of smoke but no fire.

I'd say that or visa versa Maye at 3 to NYG and JJM at 4 to NE.

Pats pick JJ at #3
This is Raanan's prediction too as of yesterday
Who do you think he borrowed it from? grin

I think it's QB or bust.

can throw Penix in there too.
That's what she said.
lol
Penix = legit interest but not at 6, maybe in a trade down or a trade back into the 1st
+1
What I think will happen: Giants want Maye, can’t make a trade work and draft Nabers at 6. No QB this year.

I'm hopeful No top 3, 4, or 5 team wants to trade back to the Vikings and the Giants jump up for Maye.
This is my guess as well.
MIN and NYG are fighting over the other one.
Drew Lock
Tommy DeVito
My preference as well
Quote:
No Qb in Rd 1 unless there is trade back up.
My preference as well
I seriously can't imagine a worse landing spot for the non-separating, contested-catch, artist Odunze, than the Giants, if they don't add a QB.
of course if Pats take Maye and Williams Daniels and Maye are off the board
It's vey likely they take WR at 6 - BPA - I lean Odunze, especially if Harrison is already picked -- I don't see it as Nabors
if it's (1) Williams, (2) Daniels, (3) Maye, (4) Harrison, (5) Odunze .. then I can see a trade down happening
Penix = legit interest but not at 6, maybe in a trade down or a trade back into the 1st
Two votes
The Giants select Malik Nabers and he's (honestly) the highest player on their board.
Daniel Gehrig Jones survives again.
There are 3 but if 2 of them go before the Giants then at least 1 of the top 4 QB's will be available at 6
