If Marvin is there at 6, would you take him?

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 4/24/2024 5:14 pm
Presuming that Caleb, Daniels, Maye, JJM, & Nabers go ahead of him.

Also on the assumption that NYG don’t view Nix or Penix Jr. as worthy of being selected at six.

I think there’s a realistic shot he could be there at 6, especially if Zona or LAC trade back with the Vikes for example & Minny grabs a QB. And the one of those two who sit tight at 4 or 5 take Nabers.

yes
Yes I would
GFAN52 : 4/24/2024 5:16 pm : link
but either LA or AZ will most likely take him before he reaches the Giants at 6.
I'd take him but I'd prefer a trade down
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/24/2024 5:18 pm : link
to around 10th/early teens in that scenario.
MHJ
Csonka : 4/24/2024 5:21 pm : link
Why MHJ and not Nabers or Odunze?
All 3 are special WR1's and would be home run picks.

Arguably the biggest need on this team is a true #1 receiver. So the best WR in the draft falls into our laps, and we punt it? What's available in the teens that helps us anywhere near as much?
100%
mfjmfj : 4/24/2024 5:22 pm : link
But I would still at least take the phone call on the trade down. Passing on someone we did not think was going to be there (josh allen) to make a surprise pick (Penix? Alt?) would feel like deja vu all over again.
Sure.
AcidTest : 4/24/2024 5:23 pm : link
But I would be stunned if he got to #6.
Yeah
56goat : 4/24/2024 5:23 pm : link
But them I would want JS to be working the phones to trade back up for a QB.

I might not ever watch this team again. It would be mind-numbingly stupid not to draft the most game ready player in the entire draft. It really is hilarious how many people ignore game film in favor of workouts in gym shorts and t-shirts. Harrison is the best prospect in this draft. If he is there you take him all day and twice on Thursday.

Great looking prospect and I agree that WR is a big need. But in terms of asset allocation, I’d prefer not drafting a WR in the Top 6. Trade down, get more picks and target a 2nd round WR stud imo.
Absolutely

Wide receiver is one of the top commodities these days. Look what they get paid.
taking a WR this high
BigBlueCane : 4/24/2024 6:13 pm : link
with the QB room as it is, would be irresponsible and a firing offense.

If by luck he fell to #6 ...
FStubbs : 4/24/2024 6:52 pm : link
... it would mean some absolutely wacky things happened in the top 5.

You don't overthink it, you take him and you don't worry about #1 WR for the next 10 years.

So if the Giants can't trade up, and 4 QBs (and Nabers) go in the top 5, you'd still draft QB with the #6 pick?

Keep in mind that with this scenario, nobody's trading up with you either as 4 QBs have gone in the top 5.
Of course you take him.
j_rud : 4/24/2024 7:00 pm : link
To me this reads like a classic example of of overthinking it. This kid is a stud in every sense of the word, has the bloodlines combined with an insane work ethic. Don't overthink it. Absent a too-silly-to-turn-down trade offer you absolutely draft who is in all likelihood the #1 or #2 player in the draft.
Yes

prospects I can remember in a long time. Quentin Nelson is probably the last player I was this high on, and it was a non premium position.

Under the scenario I outlined above, who is giving you a deal to move back?

"Sure, I'll throw in a 4th rounder and you can move down 10-15 spots. Deal!"

Agreed. Get the hell out of the 6th slot and find a buyer to move down if this occurs.

A lot of "wide receiver fever" going on here...
I'd take him in a second, he is going to be a special player
Walker Gillette : 4/24/2024 11:23 pm : link
And if/when they start a new QB he'll have a dynamic playmaker to help him develop.

Agreed. He’s a great prospect - should net us a great haul in a slight trade down. Get an extra 2 or more and move down a few spots. Maybe grab Penix then.
