Depends on the cut of data you look at

A lot of WR get overdrafted back half of R1 based on traits. Also the league has gotten progressively better at scouting elite WR talent over the last 5-10 years.

So…If you look at guys drafted in the top 6 over the last 20 years, more than half of them are at the very least pro bowlers - with many of them becoming all pro/HOF types (Fitz, Jones, Green, Megatron, Cooper, Chase).

There are hardly any busts (Blackmon is the only major one, and we all know it wasn’t due to his football skill). Sure, Davis and Watkins didn’t live up to draft slot but both guys were good starters and got big 2nd contracts in the NFL.
It’s not a bust rate, it’s highly likely they out price themselves.

Outside of a few WR. I’m not paying a WR like Aiyuk $25+ mil a year. Especially with how many good WR come out every year in the first couple of rounds. That’s a huge hit on your cap. So unless you’re Jamar Chase, Calvin Johnson, guys of that nature, I’d rather trade them or move on from them. Chris Godwin is making $27mil a yr. That’s insane. He’s a WR that’s easily replaceable. You let WR like that walk.

Is flawed logic to determine whether a guy is a “bust”.

Not getting a second contract does not make a guy a bust. Case in point, Hakeem Nicks. Had 4 really good years, helped Giants win a SB.
Round 1 Is Not Homogenous

They need to parse it out by at least top-15 if not top-10.

As we just heard from JS, drafts don’t have 30 1st round talents let alone even 15. Including the full pool of Round 1 treats all picks the same which is beyond silly.
