Listened to Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller today, they are both impressed with Penix. He has the uncanny ability to avoid sacks, he is only sacked every 12 to 13 times a team blitzes him. His progressions are fast and he gets the ball out quick and accurate, sounds a lot like Tua in Miami. It wouldn't bother me if the Giants can get him with their 2nd round pick or move into the first round to take him. He also has been injury free the last two years.
It’s been assumed the top four QBs are Williams, Daniels, Maye and McCarthy, but don’t be surprised if Penix enters the discussion come Thursday. Recently, Penix has benefited as many offensive assistant coaches have spent time studying University of Washington players, including the Huskies’ starting offensive tackles and top three wide receivers. Though analysts and reporters have not mentioned his name at high volume over the last month, one GM told me, “He’s the best-kept secret in this draft.”

This is a loaded WR class, I would rather see the Giants trade up for Maye if they can and then draft a WR on day 2.
This thing has extended much farther and faster than many could have expected.

That depends on how far he falls but imo the big difference is you're also filling a big hole with a blue chip talent at WR. I say that as someone who is all in favor of trading up for Maye btw

He’s the JPP on QBs!

It shouldn’t. Many have stated that outside of his knee issues he’d be in the discussion at QB2.

Tore the same ACL twice.
Injured both his throwing shoulder and non throwing shoulder.
4 consecutive years with season ended injuries. Yes healthy the last 2, but to invest a high first rd pick on a player with that injury history is insane to me. He’s never been hit like he’ll be hit in the pros. He’s had all day to throw. When he’s getting hammered every week you have no idea how he’ll be able to hold up. You can’t take that chance. Not in a million years.
Injury free for 2 yrs, no knee injury in 4 yrs
- at a certain point is not an issue
Good straightline speed, but not quick (just like DJ)
This guy can throw people open, get the ball in tight spots, understands protections and blitzes, and get throw the deep ball.
He really offers everything, and we can unbelievably get him with a trade down.
There's also zero chance he makes it to the 2nd round.

I am with you but not sure we get him trading down. If Giants see what we see you take him at six

I think he was making a pun with that ...

Yes, but it may have been too hard.
I always wonder about the situational component behind stuff like that though. Were these throws under pressure where the game was already essentially over, or the end of halves where they were being super aggressive?
Nice assessment. I laughed like crazy. TY!

Another thing is if the QB's are that valuable that it would be so huge to trade up, it would mean they are projected ot be very good. In that case maybe you take JJM at 6 then you can get your WR in ealry rd 2 or even do a slight tradeup?
Or insead of trading up a few to get Maye, maybe you trade back just a little and get Penix or Nix along with an extra pick. You still get the early 2nd (or late 1st rd WR wiht a trade up).
I am not a fan of any of these programs (my FCS alma mater would get trounced by any of them). I just think Penix and Nix are being overrated as a 1st rounder, let alone as a Top 6 pick. The analytics say buyer beware not to mention they each appear to require specific scheme and/or talent around them which we do not have and are not anywhere close to acquiring.
