Daniel Jones, what else.

Damfino : 4/25/2024 2:24 pm
With the relentless vitriol directed at Daniel Jones on this site I'm reminded of an old joke.
A Brooklynite walks into a room with a loaded gun with two bullets and in the room are Hitler, Mussolini and Walter O'Malley. What does he do? He shoots O'Malley twice.
I hope Daniel Jones lives a long, happy, healthy life

He's just not a starting-caliber QB
I don't think anyone wants to shoot the guy

I think it's been proven that there are two basic schools of thought on the guy:

A) He never had it to be star QB and he should not have been drafted in the 1st round.

Or:

B) Giants have been such a dumpster fire as far as the surrounding cast and coaching that we ruined any possibility of Jones fulfilling his potential as a star QB.

Whether the true answer is A or B, it doesn't really matter. Neither option turns the Giants into a contender with Jones at the helm, especially when you consider his health (two neck injuries and ACL tear) can best be described as unreliable going forward.

For whatever reason, it hasn't worked out and tonight is our best chance to move on from him with a promising rookie QB. Now that promising rookie QB may also be a bust, but it's high time we found out. The good news is rookie QB will have the benefit of a hopefully rebuilt OL with some young weapons in Robinson and Hyatt, along with a coaching staff that was intimately involved in the building of one of the league's top QBs in Josh Allen.
Poor Daniel Jones

He only got $100M. I should be so woebegone.
2023 left them with no choice

That's why I always disagreed with Sy's reasoning that they wouldn't give up with after only six games. On the contrary, six bad games plus two injuries is the scenario where they WOULD actually give up on him. There's too many unknowns attached to his contract now.

Perfect summary of the DJ problem. I'm going to get behind Schoen's pick tonight even if I'm not thrilled. I only hope that we don't continue the cycle. It would be nice for us to all be happy and excited again.

Enough of this nonsense about people hating Jones. No one hates him. People just don’t think he’s that good & want a better QB.
It was the perfect storm

Drafted to high and the Giants failed him. Not a great menu.

SOME people, LOL! I think with some actual protection to allow a play to develop, he'd be serviceable. But I digress. His time has passed and I have come to terms with it.

That was a bizarre press conference
Some people on this site defend him like he is their son

Nobody hates Daniel Jones. They just don't want him being the Giants QB because he isn't NFL-good at being a QB.

People on this site have ripped on players like Evan Engram and Kenny Golladay and other Giants all the time and nobody gets upset. Make the same type of comment about Jones, and you are a miserable person who hates Daniel!

So freaking odd.
Its ok that its time to move on

I also don't understand people saying he's not an NFL QB...that is also a ridiculously bad take. He took a not good roster to the playoffs and won a road playoff games.

Unfortunately injuries got the best of him...mostly because the oline was simply atrocious.

But thats football you can put all your eggs on a QB with two neck injuries and coming of major knee surgery.
Imagine having 100m in your bank account

All because Cutcliffe was his college coach and he reminded Mara of Eli
