Charley Walters: Look for Vikings to trade up to draft J.J. McCarthy Mitchell Daily Republic The way it looks now, as it has for months, the Minnesota Vikings will take quarterback J.J. McCarthy from national champion Michigan in Thursday’s NFL draft. To get McCarthy, the Vikings will trade their Nos. 11 and 23 first-round picks to either the Arizona Cardinals, who have the No. 4 pick, or the Los Angeles Chargers, who have No. 5. |
I said this a few days ago, Nayo can put his stamp on the team with His QB to learn behind Brisset..
Interesting.
It could be more a threat to Patriots than actual intentions
Definitely.
Fa sho. I think the Patsies will blink first. Wolf and Mayo are novices and Kraft Sr. is too sentimental.
why the hell would we pay both NE and AZ instead of just trading with AZ - we know NE/NYG want different QBs - hosed

with NY going to 3, NE to 4 and AZ to 6, all three win and get their guy. And the Vikes pound salt. No?

1. Payout would basically be the same, just different recipients.
2. You 100% sure you know who NE wants?
Told by whom?
So if the Patriots stay at 3 for JJ the Giants pivot to AZ for the #4 pick?

That the Giants and Vikings near the end have been very high on McCarthy. It’s seemingly why things have suddenly gone cold on a Vikings/Pats trade. They both really want JJ. Giants are willing to pivot to Maye.

Bingo. I like our odds to trade with Arizona. They don’t need a plethora of picks. Monty may take #70 and a 2025 2nd and be just fine with it.
Thanks!

Duke Castiglione on their 6 O’Clock Sportscast said he’s been told the Patriots will not trade out and will select Maye.

GoDeep - apologies if this is a stupid question and redundant to what you said before. I thought when you and Rico broke the news earlier to Eric that it was more or less confirmed that the trade was done between NYG and NE? Or was it still tentative?
So now at this point, NYG is essentially hoping that NE doesn’t take Maye at 3 (like Tom Pelissero just reported)?
If NE takes Maye at 3, that would be infuriating. I suppose if NYG had McCarthy similarly rated to Maye, now they are forced to make a deal with ARI (like you said) or LAC. And praying that MIN doesn’t ship the farm to steal their pick?
Just trying to make sense of what happened from a few hours ago until what the plan might be now.

This would be a great outcome for Maye.
