The defense can be worth watching next year...

I am not going to get into much of the pick last nigh because it has been talked about in other threads, but looking forward to next year's team - it quite realistic our defense can be a strong building block with another addition or two via the draft.

Lawrence
Burns
Thibs
Okereke
Banks

And the possibility of adding a Newton, Ruke, or Fiske on the interior or maybe we can drink some Kool-Aid, or Dejean, Melton, Sanistril or a lot of safeties left.... This defense can be pretty darn good. Maybe to the point where it can help the offense by getting some turnovers or better field position since well we are stuck with you know who....

But I am actually excited for this defense for the first time in a long time.

I pray for a nasty DT

at 47 to complete the front four. The D-Line could be elite.
I think if we even get average QB play

The overall team won't be as bad as everyone thinks. The WRs are promising, the OL should be improved, and there are a lot of young pieces on defense.

In fact, if some of these pieces hit I'm not sure if it even makes sense to turn it over to a rookie on a learning curve in 2025 and 2026. If any of Jones, Lock, or DeVito come good, might as well ride it out at least for 24' and 25'.
The defense is a major question mark.

Dex, Okereke, and Burns are major assets, and hopefully Thibs as well. New, unproven DC. Lost Leonard Williams, Xavier McKiney. Who’s CB2? What do we have on DL after Dex?How well will Banks and others adapt to a new defensive scheme? Can the offense help keep the defense off the field, or better yet, score enough to make opponents one dimensional?
I’m hopeful that the D can be a strength, but there’s too many question marks to take it as a given at this point.
