With a hopefully improved offensive line, a major upgrade in talent at WR, it would be nice to come away from this draft with a good running back. Feel like round 3, there's going to be a run on RB's, I'd be very happy if they go that route.
No doubt the greatest need imo if cornerback.. also adding another defensive linemen is key.. so personally I would address the defensive side on day 2.. I would then concentrate on RB and TE in rounds 4 and 5
that much, although there are good ones out there.
I would rather see them go DT or CB and bolster the defense because I think they will need a stout defense to compete this year. This is still a team that will struggle to hit 20 points each week.
if benson or wright fall to #70 i think they are very in play.
otherwise i think someone like estime or ray davis at #107.
There are some decent backs in this draft.
I know I keep harping on it, but if the Giants want a track team, get Wright.
benson isnt much slower - if 1 of them is there at #70 i think they are very much in play. dont think they will reach at #47 because im not sure any RB goes top 50.
I just hope he's the type of RB the Giants like. But Corum, to me, is the only back that has that top end shiftiness and burst, he may not be the fastest 40 wise, but he's a lot more reliable than Wright.
Enough to not even mention him in his RB preview. The guy hasn't played in a couple of years. His last serious football was at Columbia. Let's be real here.
RE: There will be too much talent at 47 to take a RB
On the other hand, there are a bunch of interesting RBs in this draft that can be had on Day 3, so the more prudent move is to take a defensive player if the grades are similar.
Not at the price of reaching, I have a feeling that's what would happen with the talent available in the 2nd round.
That's why like a sledge hammer back like Wisconsin's Braelon Allen along with the best fullback they can find (like Iowa's Joe Evans)
I don't understand this concept of reaching, running backs don't go as high in drafts as they used to, but if the best running back in this class is staring you in the face in the middle of round 2, I'd find that pretty tempting. These guys aren't slouches.

Living in fantasy land has been more fun over the last 12 years :)
In Wan'dale Robinson. He is the definition of change of pace shifty running back. Play him behind a thumper that can soften the defense, he can do a lot of damage.

We need one of those run styles for this Offense

(see Barkley, Saquon)
Also we just signed a STARTING RB.
Get one late. Get an UDFA. Get someone that gets cut in Aug.
Round 2-3? nah. lol

Hopefully we can get Wright in the 4th round.

Don't we already have a track team with Dante Miller? I wonder how their evaluation of Miller affects things.....

I was going to go with Sean Bennett

I think Dante Miller is becoming BBI's new Jonas Seawright.

Seawright was unblockable.
Did Sy ever way in where he thought Miller would have gone in this draft? Would he have graded top 10 at RB or UDFA?
I am not saying Miller is the answer I just wonder how the Giants rate him with the other needs we have.

I like Benson a lot, but not sure if the Giants can afford to use their 47 pick for him.
If they trade down and he is still there, then that would be awesome. I obviously ok with him in the 3rd.
But day 3 would be most likely in my opinion
He'd quickly become a fan favorite.
Totally agree.
Me too
i think he'd be a great pick at 107.
But if that "run" starts early tonight on RBs, you have to think about it you have a high grade on a player - e.g. Wright.
Ideally, I would wait until day three and focus tonight on DL, OL, corner...maybe safety.
