Look the Giants have been a bad team until proven otherwise. People who laud everything they do are just as annoying as those who bitch about everything. But thats what makes this forum great, different opinions are allowed here. I am not really for trying to silence any opinions.

Sometimes fans need to vent their raw emotion without an upvote or downvote and this is a great forum for allowing that because Eric treats us like adults who are going to disagree. The beauty of BBI is that it absorbs our fanatical emotion through the sheer volume of posts and the text based format.

I know I was very vocal about my dislike of the Nabers pick last night (Right or wrong, I really favor Odunze over Nabers) and I'm certain I annoyed a LOT of posters, but I feel better today about Nabers because I was able to share my thoughts and emotions from irrational --> rational as the night progressed. I've seen plenty of otherwise rational posters lose their minds on this board and yet we always come back as a community of fans.

The irony about people who start a thread complaining that other people are whinners is always lost on them.

Plus the notion that any criticism of the team = hating the team, followed by a suggestion that they go root for another team make his post unbearable.

I asked why they follow the team if they hated them so much.

The overreaction crowd who cries if they didn't get what they want, and the insecure crowd (like this post) that can't stand any opinion that is not "YAY TEAM! I LOVE IT"

Both of them make having a discussion almost impossible.

I don't see the OP as insecure, he's not incorrect. If you post something about what you think the Giants should do it's about a 99.9% chance you get blasted, called names, shamed, etc. We need more civility, it's just a game after all

I agree with this, but I also know a lot of younger Giants fans that won't come here simply because of the "confusing" or "archaic" format...just a few words/reasons I've had some giants fans I am in an IG group with tell me. I'm not sure how Eric is doing in terms of year over year user account growth...but if it is falling or stagnant, I could understand why he might consider changing it. Can't please everyone and if a change could lead to other benefits (like better ad revenue stream, new user growth, etc) maybe it is the right call.

I guess I didn't see the comment telling people to go root for another team as an example of civility.

Giants fans have a tendency to like tradition and avoid change at all costs, but you can't tell me with a straight face that BBI can't use some serious usability upgrades. It's absolutely horrific to use on a mobile device, confusing for new users, and doesn't even have basic features that users would appreciate if given the opportunity to utilize. I don't know if I'm in the minority or most just don't voice their opinion but I would absolutely appreciate an upgrade to this forum.

Hope it doesn't come to pass. The set up on BBI gives it its charm. Love how fast it loads. No awful extras that plague so many other forums.

If I wanted to "like/dislike" posts, I'd be heading over to reddit and dealing with those savages. No thanks. Keep BBI the way it is. No hiding behind edits. No profile pictures. It's perfect.

Most of the code on this site is over fifteen years old and writing a whole new forum from scratch just to keep the same look and feel doesn't seem like the best use of my time.

I will spin up an instance for people to try out once we're past the draft

I would be in full support of an update. The 30-40 get off my lawn guys that fear change will get over it once their kids show them how to use a modern message board.

And have it bring me to where I left off the last time!! I would even donate to a fund raiser to get things modernized here

other sports
home improvement
food
finance
etc

There is no reason to have everything comingled

There's a few people here 24/7 that pretty much clutter the board with the same opinion stated over and over, every day.

IMO, the board is being spammed with this type of behavior and it would be nice to be able to block it.
