Hello BBI, I am a long time lurker but I do get some intel every now and then so I just wanted to let you know that I heard Waller is 100% done. So I will share the random nuggets I get if the hit rate stays high.
I know that prettyrickey shared something like this and it isn’t necessarily ground breaking but like I said I heard 100% done with football on Waller.
Side note, also was told many in the league view Nabers as a better talent than MHJ but has some Rashee Rice like character vibes. He finds himself in fishy situations but could have Tyreek type upside. Was told NYG kept things super tight (which is good) and that Maye and Nabers were the 2 names he was thinking for NYG. This is not from a NYG source.
So nothing earth shattering but that is what I got.
I hope everyone enjoys night 2!
As reported, he’s getting divorced from Kelsey Plum. The reason why is since he got dealt to NY, he cheated on her a ton of times, including a few males. I’m not being sarcastic. My buddy grew up in the same town as Kelsey and is good friends with some in her circle.
Dudes battled some demons for a long time. I’m concerned about his future
I'll get over it, though. So, thanks for sharing!
“ Just caught up with Darren Waller. Still no decision on his future. Why is he taking so long to make a decision?
“It’s just evaluating my overall commitment level. I don’t feel like it’s fair to my teammates, fair to the franchise, fair to people that support it to have somebody out there that isn’t 100% committed to the entire journey from April to February,”
Waller said he’s still training at the level necessary if he decides to play.
Waller participated in a roundtable today about his battle with addiction at Carrier Clinic, which is Hackensack Meridian Health's flagship behavioral health campus. It was really powerful to listen to Waller be so open about his personal journey.”
Exactly. He’s doing us a favor by not returning.
I do want to note that the Giants have a history of being very patient and discreet in supporting players who seek help with addictions. That would support the lack of comments by the Giants FO. If Waller is trying/getting clean and sober again, I would expect continued patience with him. Not cutting him while not commenting might indicate they are working with him to help get his life back on track (presuming the social media posts are accurate).
Just speculation on my part.

With no confirmation from anyone that even resembles a reliable source, that’s really not something you should just speculate about

Go back to sleep, Ichybod!

The comments on Twitter by his friends and soon to be ex-wife are out there. Take it for what they may or may not be worth.
Of course there are some exceptions, like Brady and Favre, who talked about retirement for years but kept playing.

I don’t know about the friends you’re referencing but his wife said nothing of the sort
I initially though it did but I don’t believe so, so I don’t care how it ends up either at this point.

Thanks for that
Sounds like he knows he's checked out and done, but not closing the door completely - in case the "fire in the belly to compete" returns.
I also think that it's completely possible that Waller's thoughts about retirement may have stemmed from his pending divorce, and that his intentions may change as he works through his personal issues.

Just spoke with Darren Waller a few minutes ago as he finished up an event here in New Jersey as the mental health ambassador for Hackensack Meridian Health.
Shared his story at the opening of the Carrier Clinic in Montgomery.
Waller said he has not finalized his decision regarding retirement, but was adamant that the decision has everything to do with whether he feels he can give 100 percent of himself to the team and the game.
I asked specifically if it has anything to do with the roster here or his experience last season. Waller insisted no. #NYGiants

It was Bill Parcells who said once a player starts thinking about retiring he's retired. Charlie Weis is just repeating it. Weis. One "s" not two.
There are some rumors posted above that are pretty salacious for an anonymous public forum. They sounds like the actions of a person in a lot of turmoil and pain. I hope he gets help if he needs it and and finds some inner peace.
Say what?
Not really.
Start of third would be awesome.

I have always attributed it to Marv Levy, but I have heard a few times more recently attributed to Parcells.
That's what he played like to me. If your thinking of retirement, it means he has 1 foot out the door anyway, better off just retiring now.
1. Figures he doesn't retire before the draft, so they won't draft his replacement.
2. Figures he sticks around collecting his check (while not playing), knowing full-well no other team wants him because he's damaged goods.
3. Plays "good guy", local boy who is grateful to come home
Yada, yada, yada. ....
Enough, let him go.

My guess
He’s trying to be classy about it
Schoen asked him to wait til the draft is done to not give any more info to other teams.
