New to posting here, but have appreciated the great insight from many here for years. I think I was rooting for a QB last night, but wasn’t sold on McCarthy, so I’m good with Nabers. That got me thinking about our offense.
What if tonight we said, “screw it, let’s really see what DJ is onceand for all.” God knows we’ve needed offensive line improvements for basically the last decade, but we made a couple of nice signings and let’s say we went from being a bottom five offensive line to maybe completely middle of the road, maybe less than that , but nevertheless improved. Hopefully the best we’ve been up front in awhile, but still work to do.
With that in mind, what if we really just pumped resources into the skill positions around DJ and that improved line. Could we trade a 3rd/4th for Aiyuk? Given the exorbitant cost of receivers and the fact that he’s on the last year of his deal, it shouldn’t take more than that to get him, should it?
And Singletary scares no one, so draft benson or Brooks in round 2. I know that goes against the devaluing of the position, but we need a threat at running back to give our passing game any real shot.
So if that came to fruition, we would come out of tonight with an offense consisting of:
RB: Singletary/Benson
WR: Aiyuk, Nabers, Hyatt, Wandale, Slayton (don’t pay him a dime more. Any advantage to cutting?), etc
And maybe still have Waller
That’s pretty good set of skill position players. I know we would still need a cornerback desperately, and Schoen will have to figure that out. But now that we’re sticking with DJ in ‘24 , let’s find out once and for all if he can do it with weapons.
Long post and will never come to fruition I’m sure, but what the heck…
Also, I think aiyuk is going to cost at least a second, and probably a second plus an additional pick.
But I do like the idea of going offense heavy. Patrick Paul, Cooper Beebe are day 2 OL guys they had in for visits. Trey Benson and Ben Sinnott - though I imagine they like those guys better at 70.
One position I can almost guarantee they address is RB. Not sure if it will be Benson (r2 or early r3), Estime (early day 3 guy), or Blake Watson (r5 or r6 guy). Another name to watch out for is Jaylen Wright. Haven’t heard much about him in terms of visits, etc - but my gut tells me the Giants like him as he fits the mold of RB’s they’ve shown interest in the past (James Cook, for example)
I know fans think that it's impossible to judge a QB's play when he isn't given a great OL, WRs, RB, etc. but coaches watching the film can tell.
The Giants already know what DJ is... a below-average QB that needs to be replaced as early as possible.
would be solid adds. We'll see what they think of Aaron Stinnie.
CB and DT are also big needs, so we'll see! Love me some day two.
Spitballing, my guesses would be
Both D: 50%
1O, 1D: 35%
2O : 15%

Sy says as much in his writeup. Although landing Benson would be very nice IMO.
