I mean, as in I wouldn’t even bother with: OL, LB, S.
Said some of this on another thread re OL: We have a LOT of new blockers on this team already. 14 total OL, including 5 (4?) new adds, and 6 TEs, including 2 new blocking-only (practically). Let that shake out this year, although we need a catching TE. (We can’t effing seem to draft well here anyway.)
LB/S: We have a certifiable excellent LB in Okereke, and ascendant one in McFadden. Everyone else is middling and/or ST only, and we are exceedingly unlikely to spend or get a blue chip. So good enough. S not that important in the grand scheme, we have just enough, and I gather the class is not that good/deep.
So ignore all those and go full bore for what we really need: CB, DL, RB, catching TE, and I would even double dip at WR based on value if the class really is that deep. That’s yer 5 picks right there.
one injury away from starting McKethan.
Take the BPA at CB, DT, RB, TE or S.
Wouldn't take an inside linebacker in rounds 2-3 because they have Okereke and I don't think there's an impactful player there to be had.
I don't think they take an OT tonight unless they trade Neal. Which seems unlikely. That doesn't mean Neal is being handed the job; it just means they don't want to replace Neal with a green rookie.
Probably not a TE tonight. On the other hand, I would be surprised if they don't take a RB sometime in their next three picks, if only because they need a good running game so they don't have to rely on Jones or Lock to carry the offense. I think they'd like a RB who is a good receiver; is good in pass protection; and is good enough to make the defense account for him. A home run hitter would be nice. I think they liked Barkley's skill set but he was too expensive for the role they needed him for. A rookie 2nd or 3rd round pick is going to be a lot cheaper.
+1
BPA but, if close, CB has to be prioritized
The Guard who Sy has a 1st round grade has to be considered if there
Trey Benson at RB has to be a possibility
With McKinney gone - getting a highly rated safety would be helpful (especially if not getting a CB starter type here)
No way would I discount it. IMO it should be a priority rather thna have more prayers. Theidea shouldn't be to be content with at best a mediocre OL.
good call
