and every time the QB position is raised it's like everyone is suddenly crawling through a minefield in Ukraine.
The press sounds uncomfortable, and it looks like Schoen and Daboll would rather talk about their kids' laundry.
Yup.
I watched them discuss the Nabers pick and it felt the same way. I think they were genuinely disappointed to not get Maye.
Then they're fools for locking in on one QB.
What makes you think they locked in on only one quarterback? They probably only had first round grades on Williams, Daniels, and Maye. They went and visited with other guys and had the chance to take McCarthy, Penix, or Nix. It's not like they didn't do their due diligence. They just disagree with the potential prospects of the three guys taken after pick 6.

They obviously didn't lock in on one QB. They spent a ton of time evaluating McCarthy as their Plan B if they couldn't move up to the third spot. Then they had the chance to get JJM at #6, and went Nabers instead.
Schoen should be applauded for not forcing a pick for a legitimate need that he didn't believe in. Nobody today would be criticizing him for grabbing McCarthy at #6, given the amount of scouting they did on the guy. We'd all simply assume that the organizination believed in the guy, skeptics be damned.
What I find interesting is that Belichick, in his draft analysis on McAfee's show, seemed to spend a lot of time pointing out the negatives in Maye's game, while his analysis of McCarthy was largely positive. Not sure how much of the shade thrown at Maye was projected criticism at New England, but my takeaway is that Schoen really gave himself all the opportunities he could get to fall in love with JJM, and in the end, the magic wasn't there.

I agree with you. I believe the Giants need to fall in love to draft a QB.
There is one person who decides whether Joe Schoen keeps his job
That one person, John Mara, wanted to run it back in 2024 with Daniel Jones and, bottom line, that is what has happened.
Schoen was given permission to attempt a trade up for Drake Maye, that's a fact. Ralph Vacchiano, who is Mara's media outlet and who has been on top of everything all along, predicted that could happen in January, at the same time that he insisted that "the Giants" believe in Jones as their future.
It's not a fact that Schoen had permission to do anything other than what he did: attempt a trade that had little chance of success.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and you can hold to the opinion that Schoen was free to do whatever he wished in addressing the Giants' QB future. But it's not a fact. What has happened, and where we are, is fact.

Well sure they were but what are they supposed to do? Fold up their tents and go home? Pats were not moving down unless their eyes were watered by a ton of picks. I just hope that JJM doesn't make them regret their decision to pass on him at 6

Its like trying to land a supermodel - a lot of competition and the odds of success are low.
Is that all the people that complained about people being upset with them pulling out meaningless games said that “they can just trade up”.
And yet here we are. If the season is over by Halloween again will people still complain about people rooting for losses next year?
Many of the same posters who complain about fans rooting for losses when the playoffs are out of reach are the same ones who are fine taking a QB if one we love happens to be sitting there - i.e., if we run it back with Jones I am ok with that.
Let's not forget before the QB hysteria started JJM was projected as a
Being the Giants starting QB for the next 3 seasons my heart nearly stopped.
Getting a quality WR like Malik Nabers will be pointless if they put the ball into Jones's incapable hands again. For three more years?! The Giants won't have any fans left, because the apathy we're going to endure will be like torture.

Meanwhile the Hiants haven’t added to the room via the draft since 2019
