CBS NFL Today Drops Boomer and Simms; Adds Matt Ryan

Get some younger, more recent NFL players involved.
But, I don't watch those shows anyway.

it lessens his load. He is no youngster and he has the morning show which pays him well. For Phil, his on air presence is disappearing and not sure what else he has going.

but these aren’t lifetime appointments and newly retired players should be cycled from time to time and having 6-7 people gets unwieldy.

Fair analyst. Maybe they want more "charisma" though. Boomer is no loss.

does he still do Mad Dog shows? He used to be on with Russo from time to time.

I like Phil, I know he's old, but like him better than Boomer.

Maybe Romo believes he gets paid by the word?

..and he was telling RT about how much he enjoyed such guest spots as well as teaming up with son Matt on 'Simms Complete', etc.

Key takeaway for me was his comment that you prep all week for the CBS show and they give you 45 seconds to say what you want to say.

He has enough lines in the water he doesn't need it. Just like he didn't need to be in hotel rooms and airliners 20 weekends a year. The world moves on.

I actually think the FOX team is terrible and needs this more. Its at least 7 years past Terry's expiry date and he wasn't very good from get go. Same with Jimmy and maybe James Brown. Gronk was just ok. Michael isn't great either.

The FOX show is the hardest to watch imo.

I watched religiously until my home responsibilities increased. I'll tune in for the insider segment with Jay Glazer, but that's about it. Otherwise, it's on as background noise. I do like both Simms and Boomer, though.

With an unrelenting rapidity . I remember when Phil was the fresh , young voice . He’s 68. The last guy to play for the Giants who is older than me . One of my all-time favorites . Better than Eli in my opinion. But it’s time to move on . Regular appearances on Giants.com I hope . And Mad Dog and he are actually very good.

Never had any use for Boomer . Except for his son’s charity I guess .

The pre-produced comedy bits are absolutely painful. I can't remember the last time I laughed at any of them.
