it lessens his load. He is no youngster and he has the morning show which pays him well. For Phil, his on air presence is disappearing and not sure what else he has going.
..and he was telling RT about how much he enjoyed such guest spots as well as teaming up with son Matt on 'Simms Complete', etc.
Key takeaway for me was his comment that you prep all week for the CBS show and they give you 45 seconds to say what you want to say.
He has enough lines in the water he doesn't need it. Just like he didn't need to be in hotel rooms and airliners 20 weekends a year. The world moves on.
Not sure if it was mentioned but J.J. Watt was added as well
.. but he's just aged out, it is what it is. I think he's 68. He's had a great broadcasting career post NFL, made plenty of dough. Same with Boomer who's always been better at commentary imo. I think he's solid on WFAN.
I actually think the FOX team is terrible and needs this more. Its at least 7 years past Terry's expiry date and he wasn't very good from get go. Same with Jimmy and maybe James Brown. Gronk was just ok. Michael isn't great either.
The FOX show is the hardest to watch imo.
As I've aged, I barely watch the pre-game shows anymore.
I watched religiously until my home responsibilities increased. I'll tune in for the insider segment with Jay Glazer, but that's about it. Otherwise, it's on as background noise. I do like both Simms and Boomer, though.
With an unrelenting rapidity . I remember when Phil was the fresh , young voice . He’s 68. The last guy to play for the Giants who is older than me . One of my all-time favorites . Better than Eli in my opinion. But it’s time to move on . Regular appearances on Giants.com I hope . And Mad Dog and he are actually very good.
Never had any use for Boomer . Except for his son’s charity I guess .

The pre-produced comedy bits are absolutely painful. I can't remember the last time I laughed at any of them.
Yep. I don't watch much pre-game stuff nowadays but it feels like FOX could use a little shake-up too - Jimmy Johnson and especially Howie Long have been there forever.
But, I don't watch those shows anyway.
I like Phil, I know he's old, but like him better than Boomer.
We couldn't agree more on this!
Maybe Romo believes he gets paid by the word?

+1
I've never understood the love for Romo. The dude does not know when to shut up.
Was it Phil's decision to stop doing games and be in studio? If not, maybe he joins Fox?
Just curious; how old are you?
Good balance. You have a coach, defender, QB, playmaker on the panel.
