Judge isn't only recognized, by fans and non fans, around the country, but around the world. Most in NYC wouldn't recognize Brunson if he was sitting next to them in a restaurant.

Total Agree. I don't follow Basketball (Giant, Ranger, Yankee)
but literally every kid wears Aaron Judge stuff, i basically see no kids with Jalen Brunson shirts in NYC. Judge has been here for seven years and that helps, but Jalen Brunson is not even close at this point to Aaron Judge. Will he be if he leads the Knicks to a championship--maybe so--but as of now, it is not even close.
1. Jalen Brunson 475k
2. Aaron Judge 1.7m
3. Juan Soto 1.1m
4. Geritt Cole 394k
5. Pete Alonso 351k
6. Igor Shesterkin 145k
7. Daniel Jones (I Kid) 265k
8. Aaron Rodgers 2.3m
9. Other
I added instagram followers because although it's not a decisive stat, it gives you an idea of how popular guys are.
It's also funny to compare this stuff to Soccer players. Luka Modric of Real Madrid and the Croatia national team has 35 million.
But anyway - I think it's Judge despite the higher numbers for Aaron.
Brunson could get there eventually but he's not nationally/internationally known yet.
If you mean the biggest star to NYers then you can debate Brunson vs Judge vs whoever else you want.
if you mean the biggest sports star who currently plays for a NY team it's Aaron Rodgers and 2nd place is not in the same stratosphere.
Everyone knows Aaron Rodgers. No one knows Brunson. Some people may know Judge.
My wife knows who Aaron Rodgers is, he has national commercials, the discount double check, he was rumored to be in consideration as a vice president candidate, he interviewed to be the jeopardy host and has filled in, some of you are out of touch with reality and live in a NY bubble if you think it is anyone else.

I hear you guys... I guess I meant to ask who is your favorite Sports Star in NY?

It feels like it's still Judge to me, but very close to flip-flopping.
Regarding Rodgers, clearly he is the biggest sports star currently on a NY team. I think he's also clearly not the most important, most impactful, most popular player in NY. Which is how I interpreted the question. Lead the Jets to some playoff success this year (gag), he would obviously move way up the list.
I suspect this means who is most beloved by NY fans
and I agree with those saying Brunson. Basketball is the closest NY has to a one-team town, and his approval rating is 100 percent. Judge was getting booed at Yankee Stadium just last week, and Rodgers is well...ya know.
If the Knicks keep playing the way they are, it will be Brunson.
He is becoming a superstar.
Judge is great but there are other baseball players in NYC competing with him.
There is nobody in basketball in NYC that comes close to Brunson.
Also as great as Judge is he is part of a baseball team and his impact on the game is far less significant than Brunson.

If the Knicks even get to the finals, it will be Brunson, in a wipeout.
NY sports (notably my big four of NYG, NYR, NYK and NYY) are a lot more stocked today when it comes to the super star then back in 2017 or so. This area was barren back then with little to no hope. Even the giants have some legit star power on D and if you believe in Nabors we just added another one.
Yanks, Knicks and rangers are all cooking. The giants need to join the party.
If Brunson leads the Knicks to the finals it will be him
Judge. He’s a homegrown player, captain and has been involved in several playoff runs with Yanks. Brunson is definitely #2 and would overtake Judge if he wins a championship with Knicks.
RE: If Brunson leads the Knicks to the finals it will be him
If he leads them to win a championship he will be this generations Clyde, he’ll own the city
People don't remember Clyde. How he was NYC royalty. The thing about the Knicks, the whole city gets behind them. Yanks, Giants, Mets, Jets, hockey, it's more tribal.

How did the Yankees do when Judge was out last year?

This isn't about the best player in NYC. If that's the question, it's probably Igor or something. This is about the biggest star (which I read as most name ID/facial recognition).
If that's the question, it's 10000% Judge. Again, I'm not even a baseball fan, but it just feels so obvious.

I suspected there would be stars that I missed... therefore I added other. I did consider Barzal and should have added him to list
the Breadman should be in the conversation

Hahahahahahahaha. Nope
Arron Judge by a million miles.

But he just got booed. *grin*
Globally?
Most of the world doesn't know who Aaron Judge is. He's not Messi.
If the Knicks even get to the finals, it will be Brunson, in a wipeout.
Maybe that helps with the answer, maybe it doesn't.
Yanks, Knicks and rangers are all cooking. The giants need to join the party.
IF Brunson is still playing.
The Captain of the Yankees is the King of New York.
Brunson has done a fantastic job for the Knicks, but he is a "Johnny Come Lately" compared to Aaron Judge.
but brunson has been impressive
