Nabers to follow in recent LSU WR footsteps and be day 1 WR1

Stars_and_stripes : 4/29/2024 1:01 pm
OBJ, J'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, even Jarvis Landry to a lesser extent. All these guys came in and had a significant impact their rookie year. LSU has been like a program like few others in recent years (Ohio State) to produce beasts at the next level.

Any reason that Nabers aside from freak injury wouldn't or couldn't do the same?

NYG has been missing a true WR1, well since OBJ really. 6-7 years now. Having a true not just WR1 but potentially elite WR1 will transform this offense.

Finally an offensive line with an actual NFL caliber coach line might just give our QB actual time to deliver the football!
You forgot one

Reuben Randle. Made a huge impact around BBI, if not on the field.
Without Saquon I worry defenses can focus on closing down

The intermediate to short passing lanes while blitzing the QB and DJ will struggle mightily unless he miraculously punishes defenses deep.

That was by design ;)
I am so excited to watch this young group of pass catchers

Nabers has the makings of a true #1. Incredibly explosive, dynamic, and fun to watch. He can win at every level of the field. The hope is he is an impact player that transcends the offense in the mold of Jamar Chase.

Hyatt is the wild card to me. Training camp last year he had a ton of buzz. Obviously that might say more about the guys covering him, but his speed and playmaking ability did translate to the game on a number of occasions. As he becomes more refined, I expect him to be a high end #2 like Will Fuller was in Houston (before the injuries). Adding Nabers will only help, as Hyatt will work against at best #2 CB’s and have more opportunities over the top since Nabers will ideally garner more attention.

Then there is Wan’Dale. He’s already proven he can play. He’s a tough cover in the slot, but also thrives in gadget plays and picking up YAC. He’s going to be a terror working underneath now that things are opened up by Nabers & Hyatt.

There’s still Slayton. He’s been reliable, and will still see a lot of reps as Hyatt continues to develop (ideally becoming the full time #2 in 2025)

Lastly, Theo Johnson. I really like his talent. Think he can become, at worse, a good redzone threat ala Tyler Higbee. But his potential is MUCH higher than that.

So, adding Nabers allows these complementary pieces to be cast in the roles where they are best suited, and gives them more space/better matchups work. The addition of Nabers helps Hyatt & Wan’Dale out a TON.
Nabers is a fantstic player

now we have to focus on getting him a QB1

Hyatt is one year older and experienced low end he is a field stretcher high end is he is a more dangerous and consistent Slayton with better hands or a great WR2 to complement Nabers.

Wan'Dale is a poor man's Amon Ra. That gadget player that can do a little of everything but not necessarily be a dynamic WR1 or deep threat like a Nabers.
How great would it be if Nabers comes in performs like Jefferson!

Kirk Cousins stats in 2019 before JJ was drafted: 3600 yards passing 8.1 YPA 26 tds and 6 ints in 15 games.
Loved the pick

This was the pick I was looking for.
I only wish they were able to hold on to Barkley.
Barkley with these wides and better blocking would've been sick cause defenses would not have been able to load the box.
(assuming better blocking with FA pickups and new Coach)
Still wait and see mode when it comes to Evans.

He also played in a dome and with a better OL

I'm pretty sure Diggs was there too
I've been saying this for months

but I think Nabers has the most upside of any of the WRs in the draft, including MHJ. The QB situation and injuries is the only thing I could see getting in his way of a 1000 yard rookie year. Heck, even Garrett Wilson had 1,100 yards with Milf Hunter passing to him

Garret Wilson isn't even as versatile in the short range game as Nabers is. Nabers will be so dynamic on screens and other short stuff, it'll open up the deep stuff even more especially with a better coached offensive line.

Nabers is the kind of player that defenses have to account for and game plan for, and he will beat those plans because he is that good. In the meantime, his presence creates opportunities for Wandale Robinson and Jaylin Hyatt. We'll have a new, big, relatively fast TE for seam routes and a new, shifty running back who is a good receiver out of the backfield. It's always a good thing to acquire all-pro caliber players because they make players around them better. And yes, even the QB.
Defenses can’t crowd the line
Dave on the UWS : 4/29/2024 6:56 pm : link
with the speed NY can put in the field. That will help the running game, the play action game.
If Jones can’t function with the offense Daboll will run this year, it will be his last as a starter, anywhere.

They can play shallow zone to bottle us up until DJ makes throws downfield. It's all on him.
No more excuses
Jint Fan in Buc Land : 4/29/2024 7:50 pm : link
I don't see him elevating his play after 5 years but man would I love to be wrong. I'm so sick and tired of this team being a joke but I really think we'll finish bottom of the division at least 2 out of the next 3 years and of course probably longer.

I really think we'll look back and think we probably should've offered more than 1 pick and maybe we'll also be able to say we should've picked JJ or Penix. Picking 6 in a deep class wasn't a slam dunk but has to be a top 3 opportunity if you look over a span of 10 drafts.

Improving the team will eventually lead us to where the Vikings are.... Happy to pick a JJ at 11 except in an average draft it's a Rattler. Ok I'm done

Nabers has the potential to be one of the best WRs in the game. He's that fucking good. I just hope we have a QB-be it Jones, Lock, or DeVito-who will get him the rock.
