after the draft and no one still knows what the Giants really wanted to do.
I know it likely won't ever happen but if NFL teams released a book detailing their draft process for any given draft like 10-15 years after the fact I'd be a great read
months ago they weren’t trading the pick. So I don’t discount the Giants had talks for the #3 pick when did those talks end?! In other words, at some point (and the question is when) the Pats we are picking our QB and are not trading the pick.
So maybe a trade up was never a serious consideration. Therefore, I could Francessa comments. I believe they pivoted to Nabers very early in the process.

That's because nothing really happened. The Giants, in doing their due diligence, contacted the Patriots like every team at the top of the draft did, and saw what was available in trades. American click bait media gets wind of it and blows it up. That's how it works these days. The Giants never seriously considered trading multiple number ones for a QB controversy and a boatload of distractions in a contract year for both GM and Coach, with a QB on the roster making $40 million.
The Giants plan was to stick to the process and build THEIR team. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
This guy looks like he is continually searching to remain relevant, poking through the ashes of a dead story. He should find something new or relevant to report on.

Yup. As it should be.
I'm not sure who first "broke" the trade-up attempt rumor. Regardless I got the sense some writers (Duggan in particular) wanted it to be true and just ran with it. It fit months of some pre-draft narrative; nobody likes being wrong.
Also it's precisely what a GM would want be pleased with if he wanted to make sure WR1 or WR1a was still on the board there.

Reread the original post. This link is from before the draft.
Kind of harsh, they were an entertaining listen for awhile. Both have their faults, but when he wanted to - Francesa was a great interviewer. Dog was the laughable buffoon. It went south eventually, but it was tons better than the trash sports radio we get today.

I agree. I don't take everything Mike says as gospel, but I respect his intelligence and football knowledge.

And thank God for that. What a refreshing change. That is probably my main takeaway from this draft, and I view it as a positive. Like most, I wanted a new QB. But if they didn't value the available QBs and/or the trade ransom as worth the cost, then I'm glad they didn't make the same mistake this team made 6 years ago when it picked a QB at #6 last time.
I also would have liked to see them pick *some* QB for once in the last 6 years... it's incredible we haven't picked one in that time. But as you've pointed out, Eric, we had only 6 picks and needs everywhere.
Haha yup. And the NY Post
That is actually pretty cool. Massive change of the usual MO for the Giants FO.
It's so awesome.
Thank you.
coongrats... good one!

Bravo...that was great.
Lol, correct
