Marco Vargas is injured, unclear if it's the same issue that has limited him to 3 games and a previous IL stint
-Infielder/centerfielder Jett Williams, the Mets’ top prospect, went on the seven-day injured list with Double-A Binghamton because of a right wrist issue.
After he jammed it, sat out for a week and didn’t feel well enough to play, the Mets opted to officially sideline him. He might get a cortisone injection, and the Mets are inclined to take his return very slowly, given his importance to the organization.
Before getting hurt, Williams was off to a slow start at the plate, batting .180 with a .668 OPS. He also played several games at second base, his first professional exposure to that position, his potential eventual defensive home.
Saul Garcia (received a nice report from @BaseballAmerica before the season) has been activated from the 7 day IL. Garcia has stuck out 7 over 3.2 innings of work for @stluciemets. He figures to join @BKCyclones shortly

like it's possible Alvarez is back in 4-6 weeks if all goes well with his strength testing.
Need him back ASAP.
Hopefully Jett pops off the IL this week or next which is what he was tracking towards.
Zilch on Matt Allan who was hoping for a May return.
I haven't heard anything to suggest Jett won't be back by the end of the month (granted, with injuries you never know and if you told me they decide they want to give him an extra week I wouldn't be stunned) but it would *appear* Jett Will be back in the next 10 days or so, and Gilbert a bit behind that (maybe 2-3 weeks from now).
Eric, I appreciate the kind words but I'm never ditching BBI. I'm honestly just not regimented enough to ever contribute content to blogs/websites on schedule. It's a major reason the (VERY) brief blog I had with Joe DeMayo didn't last very long. I'm not OCD or anything but I have a one track mind when it comes to certain things (in this case the Mets minors). Something enjoyable about it being somewhat niche.
-Willy Fanas who was touted as a speedster when @mets signed him but thickened up to more of a CO profile now has 6 extra base hits over his first 33 ab's this season #Mets

Man Yohan has been all over the place this season.
@stluciemets
Ronald Hernandez is the FSL Player of the Week!
@MLBDeadlineNews
Rival GMs “remain convinced” the #Mets will make 1B Pete Alonso and DH J.D. Martinez available in talks before the 2024 trade deadline, per @BNightengale

well deserved and if u want 2 cents of advice you didnt ask for double down as much as you can because the mets system looks like it could be the real engine of the organization in the next 3-5 years, so there is a lot of good work that will be done that will end up getting attention as the MLB club starts to reap those benefits. Think of it like covering the orioles 3-5 years ago and how much of what was going on then setup the success they are now having. You never know what kind of new audiences will develop if things go well for team with as much fan interest as mets.

you should give substack a try. i am the same way and my bandwidth ebbs/flows, but in the months when im more motivated and write more than 1 post ill get 1k+ views with basically 0 promotion other than dropping the link on bbi and/or the occasional twitter post.
i generally only do them when i have a thought that's a little beyond a normal post, like in the next few weeks ahead of traded deadline i want to go back to what the mets got last year and update the "values" since all those prospects have been in the system for a year and like J-Rod are now presently graded in aggregate a lot more valuably than they were last year and i think one of my first met posts last year was doing that exercise in the first place, so it's nice to have the original in a place i can easily look back at it.
We'll see about Acuna (who I'm admittedly down on) but Eppler CRUSHED the Robertson and Pham deals and while Clifford has a high bust potential, I think Gilbert is going to be very good.

this isnt to specifically knock eppler because im sure it was his strategy to target lower level higher upside, but i would imagine the lower down the level, the less the GM is familiar with the players, and more those choices are delegated to the people in the minors closest to those players (i.e. i bet someone in tannous' group was a big factor in choosing J-Rod since he'd so recently been on the IFA market).
Who is pitching for the FCL Cardinals this afternoon ??
He seems to be having his way with the young Mets prospects.
Highly regarded prospect ?? Or Cardinals organization filler ??

As with most FCL games, multiple pitchers were used. The starter Nelfy Ynfante has good numbers but didn't crack the Cardinals top 36 prospects

Yeah, I looked it up. Nelfy -- tall, skinny 19 year old RH.
Is Gamecast the only way to follow the FCL Mets ?? Their lineup has some very interesting names.
Those FCL Games are free admission to PSL locals ?? Cool !!

Pretty much. Sometimes some streams will randomly land on youtube but it's basically gamecast only, as for the cost, unless something changed they are completely free.
2b Robinson Cano is currently 6th in the Mexican League in hitting (.402), 7th in OBP (.473) and 15th in slugging (.598)

Kodai Senga experienced tricep tightness yesterday and did NOT throw his bullpen session, Carlos Mendoza said.
They hope he can throw a bullpen by the end of the week.
Jeremy Rodriguez. The prospect we got from AZ for Pham last year.

I'm looking forward to that Syracuse at Scranton (Yankees farm) series this week. Scranton is in first place 1.5 games ahead of SYR. The Intl League first half season ends in mid-June....would be nice to bump the Yankees out of first.
C'mon Blade Tidwell.
