Marco Vargas is injured, unclear if it's the same issue that has limited him to 3 games and a previous IL stint
-Infielder/centerfielder Jett Williams, the Mets’ top prospect, went on the seven-day injured list with Double-A Binghamton because of a right wrist issue.
After he jammed it, sat out for a week and didn’t feel well enough to play, the Mets opted to officially sideline him. He might get a cortisone injection, and the Mets are inclined to take his return very slowly, given his importance to the organization.
Before getting hurt, Williams was off to a slow start at the plate, batting .180 with a .668 OPS. He also played several games at second base, his first professional exposure to that position, his potential eventual defensive home.
Saul Garcia (received a nice report from @BaseballAmerica before the season) has been activated from the 7 day IL. Garcia has stuck out 7 over 3.2 innings of work for @stluciemets. He figures to join @BKCyclones shortly
I've never been inside the BK ballpark, but that Roller Coaster is distracting.....might be what's bothering Ryan Clifford, Ha-Ha.

I know you kid but I don't think I've ever heard a player mention the rollercoaster other than saying it's pretty cool. They do complain about the batters eye/and or the signage though I'm sure the rollercoaster doesn't help.
De Oleo has big time buzz (especially for a lower bonus IFA guy). One to follow.

Certainly not complaining but pretty odd. He was 1-7 with 5 k’s (the one being a HR). Must be a playing time issue where they feel he’s more ready than some of the other OFers vs. anything performance based (2024 performance that is).

Very interesting! Maybe they feel like he's someone who needs to be pushed to something tougher. Fully understand he didn't do well in that SSS in FCL.

Megill has now thrown 6.2 total innings during his rehab assignment and has struck out 14
crazy how SP is now like the least of our issues. houser is in the BP, lucchessi, and Megill both on their way to pressing for call ups, Peterson and Senga at various rehab stages.
i think they will need the depth because like houser i expect at least 1 of the guys in the current rotation will get "figured out" over the course of the year, and scott will hit his innings limit, but pretty surprising to me nonetheless. they were right on their self scouting.
Orze into the game for Syracuse
@NYPost_Mets
Tylor Megill pitched four scoreless innings for Syracuse today with seven strikeouts and one walk. Carlos Mendoza said yesterday it was possible this would be Megill’s last rehab start. If so, Mets will have to decide if he jumps back in the rotation or goes to Syracuse.

Simon Juan goes yard! 6-0 @FCLMets Juan is now 2-2, HR, SB. Juan has had a slow/disappointing start to his career but he will still only be 19 in July. Big season for him #Mets

if i were a gm, i think id just trade for underperforming 17 year old bonus babies from teams who have a good track record in IFA.
j-rod for pham was more obvious than most since he was hitting so well at such a young age in DSL, but id imagine other teams prospects like Daiverson Gutiérrez are the easiest types of upside players GMs like billy eppler are willing to give up at the deadline.
if they traded pete i would hope to get 2-3 j-rods/juan/gutierrez types from someone (so basically pham return times 2 or 3). i think that's better than some 24 year old former top 100.
