Marco Vargas is injured, unclear if it's the same issue that has limited him to 3 games and a previous IL stint
-Infielder/centerfielder Jett Williams, the Mets’ top prospect, went on the seven-day injured list with Double-A Binghamton because of a right wrist issue.
After he jammed it, sat out for a week and didn’t feel well enough to play, the Mets opted to officially sideline him. He might get a cortisone injection, and the Mets are inclined to take his return very slowly, given his importance to the organization.
Before getting hurt, Williams was off to a slow start at the plate, batting .180 with a .668 OPS. He also played several games at second base, his first professional exposure to that position, his potential eventual defensive home.
Saul Garcia (received a nice report from @BaseballAmerica before the season) has been activated from the 7 day IL. Garcia has stuck out 7 over 3.2 innings of work for @stluciemets. He figures to join @BKCyclones shortly
Part of the reason I don’t mind them taking as long as possible with him.
He needs to pitch 234 more innings before the end of next season
I think you mean McLean.
his flyballs are down right now which is presumably why the homers are down a little too, but id imagine it's part of whatever adjustments he's been trying to make to hit for better contact at mlb level.

And Sproat both go today, nice
I think you mean McLean.
Yup meant McLean
are facing off with David Buchanan today. Buchanan was @Mets
6th round pick 15 years ago!
I have a feeling he's going to be big time. Really nothing to back this up but gut but a top 30 overall prospect at his height.
Awesome let's go! I think we'll see Clifford's power more.
Great news. Clifford needs to get the hell outta Bklyn.
In tiny sample, 17 competitive swings Vientos has 'blasted' 3 balls (17.6%) while in 205 competitive swings Baty has only blasted 10 (4.9%).
On the graph below they are charted closed to each other in the top right because their swing speeds and swing lengths (and averages) are all almost the same, so the difference is Vientos squares ball up more which explains why his avg. EV has always been better.
Baty's defense has been good but if he doesn't start doing more damage consistently soon that may be worth becoming a split role.
Do we need to look at Bohm or Stott in Philly for a Baty comp? He reminds me of one of them but I need to go back to look through developments.

he has always reminded me of bohm because he similarly has that long lanky build. his defense appears better than bohm too. bohm very much fits the 'old way' of comparisons, though i havent dug too deep on the under the hood stuff.
eyeballing the average EV/barrel rates/hardhit rates it looks like bohm was always a little better than baty has been even early on.
Should definitely give credit since you were first with it. I'd feel a bit ticked as well. I think you have enough followers that it's not like it's going out to no one so if you're first you should get the cred.

gonna lie, I generally don't care about this stuff at all but Joe DeMayo/SNY "stealing" my news about Clifford/Sproat without crediting me as the origin felt kind of lame. I don't even write or have a website so it's not like I'm competing with them. I've known Joe personally for almost 20 years but still felt kinda lame. Just saying.

It's not a huge deal but multiple people were DMing me asking my opinion of it and it was just kind of annoying (even the person who told me said it wasn't very "cool" of them). Not losing sleep over it, a mini vent lol
i rarely post on twitter, but from the observer side it appears to me that most of the independent sports content people are massive hypocrites who are really just trying to churn out whatever they can for clicks. and in joe's case he's now seemingly SNY official so that's worse.
for as much criticism as they will all give that geny_ny account, they all do the same stuff. build followings big enough to monetize somehow i guess? but honestly i dont know how any of them would ever monetize anything meaningful on 1 team's niche fanbase.
When Luis Acuna gets on base....he's going. Batting leadoff and playing CF yesterday. 2 hits and a Walk. First inning walk, immediately stole second, and then scored on a Luke Ritter single.
Later he singled, stole second and moved to third on the bad throw. When Luis gets to the big leagues, we'll call that an "Acuna Triple" as he stands on third.
Ritter and Trayce Thompson with 2 RBI days. And Megill had 6 K's in 5.1 innings. I think he might be ready to come up.
Good question and we have more interesting bats at these levels than I can remember. Not sure you want to include, Houck, Vargas, Hernandez, Baro, Ewing, FCL guys like De Oleo, Zitella, Sarmiento. I might even be forgetting a few.
As of right this minute and this will be very fluid I'd go Baez, Vargas, Rosa, JROD, Houck, Morabito, Baro, Hernandez, Ewing. Leaving out the FCL guys except JRod as I need to see more. Good to see Juan maybe putting it together. Leaving out Daiverson and Yovanny as well.
I'd have Baez first, I think he's the future 3b of the Mets (if it's not Baty), elite EV for his age, last I checked he was 2nd in the league in K%. Quite the combo. I'd rank J-Rod second, Morabito probably 3rd but I still worry about his lack of lift/power, Rosa more upside than Morabito but far more risk. Baez and J-Rod could be top 100 prospects at this time next season, the others likely won't be. Juan would be last for me. Big bonus, great build/age but so far zero production

0-2 2 k's today
Fully admitting this is so so early but the returns from the top 10 rounds last year are pretty solid except for of course Houck. Sproat looks great. McLean pretty good. Baro and Ewing look the part. Morris, Hudepohl, Wenninger, Troesser solid numbers. Thornton meh. Hall terrible.

Guerrero has looked "completely overmatched" in DSL ST so far per a source. It's ST for everybody but that's not great.
0-2 2 k's today
0-3 3 k’s. He wasn’t a top 50 IFA despite his dad being Vlad and only received 100k for a reason but he’s struck out over 60% of his AB’s this Spring. I don’t have high hopes lol
Quote:
I'm pretty high on Ewing. Seems like a real "professional hitter" type and if he can be playable in CF, I think he becomes pretty interesting, will only be 20 in August. Not the biggest guy but he's shown some early pop, runs pretty well too

They reportedly are high on Thornton too,
Or at least were when they picked him
They announced JROD in the lineup so must be him and the stringer messed something up.
I hope they move Juan up if he continues this for another couple of weeks. He's is a repeater as is.
