Marco Vargas is injured, unclear if it's the same issue that has limited him to 3 games and a previous IL stint
-Infielder/centerfielder Jett Williams, the Mets’ top prospect, went on the seven-day injured list with Double-A Binghamton because of a right wrist issue.
After he jammed it, sat out for a week and didn’t feel well enough to play, the Mets opted to officially sideline him. He might get a cortisone injection, and the Mets are inclined to take his return very slowly, given his importance to the organization.
Before getting hurt, Williams was off to a slow start at the plate, batting .180 with a .668 OPS. He also played several games at second base, his first professional exposure to that position, his potential eventual defensive home.
Saul Garcia (received a nice report from @BaseballAmerica before the season) has been activated from the 7 day IL. Garcia has stuck out 7 over 3.2 innings of work for @stluciemets. He figures to join @BKCyclones shortly

Going to be a top 100 overall end of year if he keeps this up.

Jesus Baez cannot be contained. 1st inning double (104.9 mph) for the 19 year old 3b. Baez now has 9 2b's on the year, which is good for 2nd in the FSL #Mets

When guys post exit velocity like that, it seems to be pretty durable. Either they have it in their bat or they don't.
For all the things Vientos hasn't done consistently at big leagues, hitting the ball hard isn't one of them.
Conversely Baty's big league EV has always been pretty meh. Defense aside, i've long been confused by how much the former's bat was put on a pedestal and the other's put down. vientos upper minors slg% has always been better than batys, this is why.
T Megill 2 outings no runs
but my the hitting at AAA AA just brutal. Gilbert out.Williams out.Acuna,Clifford Parada 220 and under.
Vientos promoted but McNeal is now back up SS

Clifford in RF
Acuna's playing SS, 2B and CF. I wish they'd just play him more at 2B because that's where he's going to make it to the Bigs.
SYR is playing Ritter at 3B, seems like the Mets are trying to find Baty's replacement somewhere in the system.
They played Mike Brosseau at 1B, and he had a big game Tuesday night. Watch your back, Alonso.
SYR bats around in 6 run 4th inning. - ( New Window )
Any scouting report/projections on Pena offensively?
Quote:
expected, Elian Pena expected to receive a bonus in the "5 million range" from @mets when the 2025 IFA period opens on 1/15. Some scouts think 3b is the best fit for him, while others think he has a chance to remain at SS. Will be the biggest bonus the Mets have ever given out.

Like most of the sweet swinging LH's from DR, he's had some Cano comps. Watched him a bit in winter ball before he hurt his hand (he was 16 playing with grown men) and he looked it (not the biggest kid) but has a pretty swing. His bat will be what dictates what he becomes.

Interesting Dan, thanks. Doubt there has been anything put out (I know I couldn't find much last I looked), but what is your best guess of hit/power/speed tools on the 80 scale?
FV
60 hit, 55-60 power, 50-55 arm, 45-50 speed, 50 glove. I fully realize he could pack on 40 pounds from now until he's 22 and become Rafael Devers but what stood out was a sweet swing, drove the ball well considering his age and that he wasn't a Mauricio type build, less lanky, more filled out.

Thanks a bunch, Dan! I will take a complete guess, as you have seen him more than most people, and there really isn't a lot of info out there on him yet.

guesses on a 16 year old I saw play a handful of times, watched some video and very brief conversations.

All I can really add is the Mets love him, the deal has been in place for at least the last 18 months and from my complete untrained eye, his swing is aesthetically a nice one.
