Enjoy today's game 😊
schedule doesn't get any easier with St lou, atlanta, philly coming up. thankfully marlins after that.
For the Mets, and his wallet's, sake
I have no idea. Maybe he had money on the game or wanted to go home?
that series was a real nut shot. the big bats need to start delivering.
Alonso 0-5, 0 hard hit balls, down to .206.
i know DJ drove in a run but he was 0-3 and down to .186 hitting 5th.
mcneil 0 for 4 with 3 k's. he may be cooked.
the 🔥 is for hard hit balls - Lindor had more than the rest of the lineup combined.
i know a certain player in AAA who specializes in hard hit balls. he happened to hit this homer to right center today.
what are they selling? most of the team is free agents to be. how much do you think you're getting for alonso when he's hitting .205?
I’ve never see anything like the dysfunction around Vientos. Your pro ballclub sucks balls. And their ceiling isn’t that high to begin with. And you continue to put your hottest AAA prospect in the corner. I mean, when they finally did call him up (begrudgingly, I’m sure), all he did was hit .429 with a walk off homer.
I would trade Pete and put Vientos at first base right now. Otherwise, just trade the fucking guy. I can’t continue to watch the bullshit decisions around Vientos.

after they called him up they went to great lengths to praise how he carried himself despite the disappointment of not making the team.
I think that’s all bullshit. The proof is in the pudding. These FO guys are all ego and think their decisions are the best (no matter how horrible the decisions are). And yet - we suck every single year. Across multiple FOs. But sure - you can choose to believe some mythical reason (that likely doesn’t exist) that Vientos continues to not get a shot even though the pro club stinks and he continues to crush AAA. Makes a ton of sense /s
Sorry…rant over.

I'm with you mean. These FO folks aren't anything special. It IS about ego with them. This franchise is still a mess. So frustrating. How the heck did Zack Short EVER spend a single minute with the big league club, especially with JD Martinez not with the big club to start the season? SMFH.
once or twice a week at 3b for baty,
once or twice a week for JDM at DH.
once a week at 1b for pete,
whoever hits stays in the lineup most often at DH.
probably sends down stewart, but if this is an evaluation year i think that's just an obvious move. mcneil/wendle can be 5th/6th OF. if someone in the OF gets hurt he comes back up.

I was joking, but maybe JDM brings back a lottery ticket. And there are bullpen pieces that may draw interest.

+1
for everything he cant do there are stats that look good too - regardless of L/R split he had the best batting on the team last year against high velocity. he had the hardest hit balls all year of cole and bautista (on a 100mph+ pitch). 7 of his 11 big league homers are off righties.
we have no idea what he can/cant do at the mlb level because he has never gotten a chance. actually we know 1 thing, he can consistently hit the ball harder than anyone else on the team including alonso.

he has 101 batted balls in this data and all of last year he had 421. so this is basically at the 25% mark of the season.
if the season ended today like this he wouldnt get more than a 1 year deal from anyone.
Let him be someone else's albatross and hopefully get a player back at the deadline or draft pick compensation for some team signing him after the season.
basically how i've viewed him. the contact quality is so bad right now im actually more inclined to believe that this is just a flukey extended cold streak, 86 mph EV is not just low for him but well below major league average. but it is certainly a blinking red warning light.
up until last year his swing decisions had been trending better and better. he was swinging at pitches in the zone more often, and making contact in the zone more often, even as he was seeing fewer balls pitched in the zone.
last year he made a big improvement on swinging out of the zone less too.
this year all his swing decisions look fine so it's mostly a contact quality issue, but he is swinging less even though he's seeing the highest number of pitches in the zone he's seen in any year of his career. pitchers are challenging him and he is either being too passive or making weak contact.
Alonso will be a free agent after this season and there is no indication the Mets are going to extend him long term before he reaches free agency. Therefore, if they aren’t in the wild-card race come late July, they should trade Alonso and try to re-sign him in the offseason. He loves New York and loves being a Met, so they’d have a legitimate chance to sign him in the winter. In the meantime, by parting with Alonso before the trade deadline, they could get back a promising young pitcher in Hancock, the sixth overall player taken in the 2020 draft, who debuted last year and this year has logged a 4.75 ERA over six starts. Hancock, 24, has given up two runs or fewer in each of his past four starts. France, who will turn 30 this season, also comes back in the deal to New York. He could play first base for the Mets the rest of this season, and with his experience at third, second and DH, gives them a multi-position player and a potential offseason trade chip (particularly if they re-sign Alonso). To me, his swing and approach say he should be much better than his production — .250/.337/.336 slash line and a 99 OPS+ last year and a 97 OPS+ this year — so maybe a change of scenery would help him. France is under team control through next season.
The Mariners, on the other side of this deal, would fill their biggest need, landing a big middle-of-the-order power bat to give them a much better chance of winning the AL West and even running the table in October. Seattle could replace Hancock in the rotation with Bryan Woo and still have the best five-man rotation in baseball. Woo, who logged 4.21 ERA over 18 starts last year as a rookie, is on the injured list but reportedly nearing a return.

Emerson Hancock had an effective start, holding Arizona to 1 ER, 2 H, and 2 BB in 6.0 IP with 4 K
He had a heavy fastball approach today, which helped him generate plenty of chases. His arsenal grades out around average, but without a stronger 4-Seam, Hancock may struggle

France is a FA after next season but I agree with you overall. I'm not high on Hancock at all. Call me when they offer Woo.
Give me a couple of lower minors lottery tickets over one of Ty France's arb years.
