Sanders could be first pick in the 2025 draft

jeff57 : 5/6/2024 10:34 am
According to Jason La Canfora:

Quote:

But the same general managers and evaluators who told me months ago that the 2024 class would feature six first-round quarterbacks were in agreement that Sanders would have stood up comparatively well against Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye et al., and those evaluators are projecting Sanders will go much higher next year than mock drafts are predicting.

“He was QB1 for me if he came out this year,” said a longtime NFL evaluator whose scouting reports about the 2024 class proved salient. (He spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the proprietary nature of scouting observations.) “You have to manage him a little differently, and Deion is going to be heavily involved … so you have to be prepared to deal with that bulls---. . . .

This kid can really play. He’s got good accuracy. He can let it rip. He’s not a sprinter, but he’s more than athletic enough. He’s got some charisma to him, he has strong leadership traits, he’s more than tough enough. . . .

And a top talent evaluator for a team that did select a quarterback in 2024 said of Sanders: “I really like him, man. I really do. He can play. He was right up there in the top three [quarterbacks] for me. I would have been stacking him right there with Daniels or Maye. Definitely would have had him before [Michael] Penix, [J.J.] McCarthy or [Bo] Nix. If this kid comes out, he’s going in the top five or six picks. He could be the first pick of this draft.”

I wouldn't put any money on him being the first pick of the draft.
On field I like his pocket poise
widmerseyebrow : 5/6/2024 10:39 am : link
Brady mentors him and he seems to want to emulate his game and habits which is encouraging. I'm not so sure about his arm strength though.
Deion's statement about only letting his son's play for 6 teams
BleedBlue46 : 5/6/2024 10:43 am : link
Was quite bizarre. I agree with this article. Shedeur can play, he had worse o line play than we did last year and still was impressive. Nevertheless, I can't see Mara signing off on him even if his dad let him play for us.

is one that is going to be the elephant in the room for every team. Very LaVar Ball-esque.

If I were a betting man, I would have him up in Jerruh-World first and foremost.

Second choice ATL

Third Rams

Too cold in the north for Shedeur and Deion is probably eyeing the OC job wherever that train stops.
It would be hilarious if the Giants wind up with the top pick

Sure... it will be "noise".
Can we see how good Sanders is first before declaring...
Darwinian : 5/6/2024 11:36 am : link
... too much "noise"?

I don't care how "noisey" the situation is, if he's seen as a clear #1 QB, it won't be easy for the Giants to pass on him, if they have the top pick. It will be a bad look.
Just say what you think

gameday555 : 5/6/2024 12:15 pm : link
Just look at this year’s draft. It came out that Rattler fell in no small part due to some teammate related character concerns stemming from a documentary from years ago. Multiply those concerns by about ten with Sanders. And his talent/play is not enough to compensate for it. I’d say it’s a safer bet he falls to round 2 than him being the first overall pick.

last year to get a better sense on Sanders. He is one tough kid. He played behind the worst OL in the country last year and took an absolute beating. That's how he fractured his back.

The OL should have been arrested for assault that's how bad they were.

Sanders has a good arm - not great - and his movement is average. I don't think he is a great athlete and won't be a dual threat like a Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels. He'll be a pocket posser who can buy time if needed.

So, it's going to be interesting watching him play this year and how he improves.

The best pro prosect on that team is Travis Hunter, the corner/WR.

BTW, Deion's bluster brings out the best in the other teams. Teams were fired up to play Colorado and the games got very physical. The cheap shot Hunter took in the Colorado State game was vicious. And I think it was because of Deion...
