Guaranteed money for a few of the Giants undrafted free agents, per source:
• OT Marcellus Johnson, Missouri: $170K
• CB Alex Johnson, UCLA: $115K
• Edge Ovie Oghoufo, LSU: $7,500
• WR Ayir Asante, Wyoming: $4K
Important to note that the guarantee amount really only tells you how in demand players were as UDFAs and how much the team wanted to sign them. But these guaranteed figures are nowhere significant enough to tip the scales on who will make the roster.
Adding North Dakota State OT Jake Kubas: $270K guaranteed. That's the richest guarantee I've seen aside from Colorado State CB Chig Anusiem, who the Giants were interested in but he fetched $350K guaranteed from Washington.
A practice squad salary for the full season is $225K. The Giants guaranteed Kubas $240K in salary plus a $30K signing bonus. Strong indication that they expect him to at least land on their P-squad (although with offsets, they'd only have $45K in dead money if they cut him and he signs with another team's PS).
Rounding out the guarantees for the Giants' undrafted free agents, per sources:
• DL Casey Rogers, Oregon: $220K
• WR John Jiles, West Florida: $100K
• K Jude McAtamney, Rutgers: $2,500
DL Casey Rogers, Oregon: $220,000
OT Marcellus Johnson, Missouri: $170,000
CB Alex Johnson, UCLA: $115,000
WR John Jiles, West Florida: $100,000
Edge Ovie Oghoufo, LSU: $7,500
WR Ayir Asante, Wyoming: $4,000
K Jude McAtamney, Rutgers: $2,500
theres going to be massive competition at slot and outside CB this spring....

Alex Johnson w/ some really good slot numbers
Among draft eligible players w at least 195 slot snaps
2nd lowest yards allowed/snap
3rd in snaps/reception
3rd in passer rating allowed
2nd in INTs behind Sainristil w/ 5
Third lowest in YAC
All while having the 7th most slot snaps
The guys with high guarantees means they were in demand which means they are no cinch to clear waivers and make it to the PS. That being said, a claiming team has to give up a spot on the 53.
I see 5-6 of these guys starting on PS and I’m sure we will see some elevations as time goes on.
I really hope some can develop but I’m not sure NFL coaching develops raw talent like it used to. At least the Giants don’t.

There are still three UDFAs on this roster from 2022 and three from 2023.

These guys are all long shots for the initial 53.

My comment was regarding the initial 53. Of the 6 you mention, I think only Tomon Fox made the initial 53, although Ryder Anderson may have.
Cracking the initial 53 is tough and my point was calling out the high guarantee guys and the risk of trying to waive them to the PS.

I've seen it mentioned a few times Alex Johnson might be a good candidate to switch to safety. I could see a year on the practice squad learning the new position.
Remember, Jordon Riley came from Oregon too.
Giants have at least 4 players that spent time at Nebraska but I think there are 5-6.
For the top 5 guys, I guess the Giants are really guaranteeing them a practice squad slot, at least until their salary matches the guarantee. For the top two, they are almost guaranteed an elevation or two.

I think we have to re-focus what our new defense is looking for, and I dont think they will switch him to Safety. Its clear to me that Bowen is grabbing guys that can read and react like a safety because he needs his corners to play zone. They need to be able to know when to pass off men in coverage and know how to jump routes.
This goes for everyone but the Defensive Line because those guys are going to rush the passer. But if you look at Nubin at Safety, Dru Phillips and Alex Johnson at slot, Muasau at LB. These guys have a lot of promise in a read and react defense because they all have great instincts.
I also wouldnt sleep on Tre Hawkins getting a lot of playing time this year playing outside corner. He had a great preseason but got toasted playing Wink's man coverage on the island. However in a zone based scheme I think he still has a lot to offer, here one of is his scouting reports:
Tre Hawkins III, CB
Strengths: Nice-sized corner coming off a disappointing season. Aggressive, stays with assignments, and gives a lot of effort defending the run. Quick flipping his hips in transition, fluid moving around the field, and has a burst to the ball out of his plant. Effective facing the action and quickly locates the ball or action.
Weaknesses: Must improve his backpedal. Lacks deep speed. Didn’t show much improvement last season.
Overall: Hawkins possesses next-level length and has shown solid ball skills over the past two years. He lacks Sunday speed, but he could be used in a zone system facing the action.
Manny in CA deserves a shout-out on the UCLA Alex Johnson signing. Manny started a thread a few days ago on Johnson, and even cited a possible move to Safety.
With Theo and Dyontae, the Giants are going to lead the NFL in Johnsons.
The guy ran a 4.27 40 at the SC pro day. I know pro days are usually inflated, but still damned impressive and he looks super quick in his highlight reel.

There were threads and discussions on Alex Johnson since after the draft. Manny was way late to the discussion.
