A reunion nearly took place in 2022, as general manager Joe Schoen, in his first year on the job, was interested in adding Snee as an offensive line scout.
Snee and the team could not come to an agreement on the time commitment aspect of the position.
This is one area where improvement has been badly needed. So many whiffs in recent years, culminating in the disaster of 2023. Believe this is an emerging trend - specialty scouting. Good job, JS.
up what I thought was a very interesting thread on this topic last year. Some NFL team scouts are given geographic locations to scout. Other NFL scouts assign by specific player positions .
drafted him and the nepotism discussions that went away after he became an anchor on the SB teams. He loves the franchise and Mara loves him. I expect him to be great at his job but if not, we can chalk it up to ownership being too loyal to their players.

And he was a scout for the Jaguars while Tom Coughlin, his father in law ran the team.
There are details still to be worked out in terms of job description, but makes sense for Snee's responsibilities to include a strong offensive line focus. Would think his scouting will be assignment-based in college and pro as well.
But I'm happy to see them making a move to bring in a specialist for the OL.
Say whatever you want about Schoen, but he's clearly making and effort to fix the OL. 5 FA's, 2 UDFA's, a new OL coach and now a position specific scout.
I had heard somewhere that he joined BC football staff a few years ago as an analyst in personnel, but good to see him back with the Giants. Always figured he would be coaching though.

The Rams model, right? I remember that post.
Hope he is a significant upgrade at scouting OL prospects

But he didn't draft any OL this year.
Only had 6 picks + the fact they brought in a position specific guy tells me they've figured out they suck at drafting OL which is why they signed 5 FA's instead.
Really, really hoping Snee helps us start hitting on some day 2/3 guys in the future. It would be huge for this franchise.

The timing was not right then, but it is now.
So it begins as i thought would happen Joes gets it -he rebuilt the OL and coaching and he needs to rebuild his OL scouting too. We have the right GM and coach in place

They have four Schoen draft picks already on the roster that they need to develop. They also signed five offensive linemen in free agency. A 6th round OL wasn't going to make much of a difference. Getting Evan Neal to play better will.

Evan Neal was a very competent LT at Alabama. I'm wondering if he was always playing injured since being drafted. If so, maybe the offseason surgery will produce a productive offensive lineman.

I hope Snee is the answer.
interesting they tried to hire him 2 years ago.
I totally agree. He dated the daughter of an NFL HC in college and married her after he got drafted. He's very smart. Lol

book it. He always struck me as a very bright guy.
He's going to have to rise fast to be a GM; he's getting a relatively late start on that career. He's 42. Joe Schoen is only 44.
Schoen passed on McCarthy, the job’ll be opening up in a year and a half

Chris Snee is rejoining the #Giants as a scout, as the NY Post reported.
The former All Pro offensive lineman had been trying for years to return to the organization as an OL-specific scout. Finally gets the opportunity.
