The Giants claimed QB Nathan Rourke off waivers. He was waived by the Patriots yesterday. Giants now have four QBs on the roster: Rourke, Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito. But Jones will be limited (if he participates in team periods at all) this spring.
Rourke tried out at the Giants’ rookie minicamp as a WR in 2021. They also had him in for a workout late in the 2022 season. 25-year-old thrived at QB in the CFL in 2022 and then spent most of last season Jacksonville’s practice squad.
Not yet, but I expect it comes down to Milton or him.
"The Patriots had also already shown a willingness to cut bait with Zappe as they released him during final roster cuts last summer only to bring him back a short time later. The 25-year-old is in the final year of his contract before hitting restricted free agency. With those factors in mind, it would seem like the Patriots would opt for the project in Milton over Zappe if Mayo ultimately decides to have three quarterbacks on the regular-season roster. "
The kid has fantastic results in college (Ohio U) and Canada. Voted MVP in 2022 and he missed some time with an injury. The kid can run too.
I know some will think I’m crazy, but based on the success he has had in two levels (college and CFL), he is only 25, yet has experience, he’s not just a rookie out of college….could NY give him a chance to show he is the best QB we have?
Like I said, I know that may sound stupid, but to me results should be the #1 factor in judging a kid. Wherever he goes, he succeeds. He was even pretty impressive in preseason with Jaxsonville this last season.
In 3 games :
23 completions
35 attempts
11.7 yds per pass
65.7 % completed
348 total yards
116.0 passing yds per game average
1 TD
47 longest pass
0 interceptions
2 sacks
11 sack yards
107.8 1. qBR

He was just cut from the Patriots pre-season roster.

Not sure of the correlation here….he didn’t play in his 3 weeks…..HC gets fired…..new coach drafts 2 QBs……doesn’t know anything bout NR, so he lets him go……
Like I said, wherever he goes …..AND PLAYS…..he succeeds. How can he succeed in New England when he never played and was never given a chance.
Neal was a shoe in, looked good on tape……so far, a bum
Rourke looks good on tape, so far a winner
Difference: heart size. Rourke clearly wants this, otherwise, he would go back to his native Canada and resume being a star. THIS IMPRESSES ME….GIVE HIM A CHANCE. Let’s be honest here, he can’t do much worse than what we have. Everyone has issues.
Devito looked fine as a 3rd QB last year, but more competition is always good. There's always a chance that Jones is physically unable to play, so kid could be in the mix to be backup QB as well.
It amazes me that our QB room is going to be even worse in '24 than it was in '23. What a time to be a Giants fan.
We’ll see. I think Drew Lock will be an upgrade over Taylor and DeVito.
Why so much hate for Tommy Cutlets? The kid did pretty good, especially for not having much preparation. And please don’t tell me that Monday Night win v the red hot Packers you forgot already? Giants don’t ever win Prime Night games so that was special, and Cutlets was a large reason why it was. By the way, he looked much better than Bryce Young, the first kid picked in the draft. Tommy wasn’t even picked. Think about that.

Go nuts?!
They love Zappe up here for some reason.

And you guys honestly thought that Schoen wouldn’t address the position!

New York Giants Claim Nathan Rourke Off of Waivers - ( New Window )
Nooooooo....!
- NYG mantra last year - "The Offense (defense) you saw last Sunday may not be the Offense you see this week.
- The NFL has devalued RBs and we now see more RBC.
- Could the NYG consider "QB by Committee" depending on the opponent?
OK, I'll show myself to the door.
Reminds me of the Helmet Catch!
Haha that was a heck of an effort and a heck of a play.

And can he run like The Fridge?
A great man once said the following sage words:
"It can always be worse."
We’ll see. I think Drew Lock will be an upgrade over Taylor and DeVito.

Don't you want us to have first pick in the draft?

He’s not a good pro QB. Not personal

I do too. Could never get over TT spiking balls at WRs feet a couple/few times per game. Truly WTF moments - sometimes when not pressured.

It wasn't "special". They were 5-8.
