NFT: Mitchell Robinson done for the year

Stress fracture
Officially

He’s out 6-8 weeks and will be reevaluated

Ugh. I love Mitch, but injury after injury after injury.

I predicted Knicks in six before last night & sticking with that. But I think Cs are winning the East. And I think Wolves are going to win it all.
Mitch was clearly playing in pain
nygiants16 : 5/7/2024 8:25 pm : link
Give him credit for fighting Embiid in the 1st round..

But in this series Precious is probably a better weapon defensively
They don't have enough dawgs
spike : 5/7/2024 8:25 pm : link
for the rest of the playoffs. I Hart can't play the entire game.
Really put his body on the line to come back, have to respect it.
bceagle05 : 5/7/2024 8:26 pm : link
Going forward though we must re-sign iHart and have a third center who can play. Could be Precious, can’t be Sims.
No Randle, no Mitch, no Bogey.
bceagle05 : 5/7/2024 8:30 pm : link
Sucks, man.
Not great overall but might save Thibs from himself.
Strahan91 : 5/7/2024 8:38 pm : link
Clear to anyone watching that Precious is a better fit against Indy than the current version of Mitch
Hopefully
Jon In NYC : 5/7/2024 8:41 pm : link
Mitch can beat the timeline in time to face off against Gobert.
Did Embiid do this?
bluefin : 5/7/2024 8:44 pm : link
I don’t remember Mitch having issues post-surgery until Embiid pulled him down.
Each injury makes this playoff run a little harder

.
This probably is not a net negative this series
LW_Giants : 5/7/2024 9:26 pm : link
Given the matchup but any hope of giving the Celtics a hard time (however slim that possibility was) is probably out the window

Celtics would have probably played Mitch off the floor unfortunately. He historically has had a ton of trouble guarding Porzingis

Prob true. I’m not worrying about what if, we have our hands full enough with the Pacers
Oh, and fuck Joel Embiid.
bceagle05 : 5/7/2024 10:06 pm : link
His Game 3 antics absolutely contributed to this.
Precious is the better matchup
ajr2456 : 5/7/2024 11:01 pm : link
For Boston
Mitch should spend his downtime

Yup, fuck him

Bummer for Mitch, much respect for how he came back and battled through as long as he could in the playoffs
This one hurts .
larryflower37 : 5/7/2024 11:22 pm : link
Hartenstein better be ready for 38-40 minute games
Tough loss not having Mitch rest of playoffs
Rick in Dallas : 5/7/2024 11:34 pm : link
Get well big guy!!!!
Last time Precious
ElitoCanton : 5/7/2024 11:35 pm : link
got real playing time he played really well. He was very good in that game 4 win at Philly. I expect him to play well. He's not Mitch, but he does things Mitch doesn't do. They can basically switch everything with him on the floor.
scumbag Embiid.

Robinson is a gamer. It's a shame.
Feels like we’ve seen the last of mitch

Crazy how the Knicks depth was their strength..
moze1021 : 5/8/2024 7:37 am : link
before Julius went down.

Now it's just been a decimation of that depth.

One positive way to look at it is that the depth is what has now saved them.

To think that Hart, Hartenstein, and Donte were all bench guys at the beginning of the year is crazy...

I just looked at lineups for the year too and none of them are in the most played Knicks lineup by minutes (Brunson, Grimes, RJ, Julius, Mitch)
Someone needs to

Takes his knee out. Old school style (of course by accident).

He'll be back. He's got two more years and $27M on the contract and no other team is going to want to take on that obligation for a guy who can't stay healthy.

I don’t agree with this. That’s not a big contract, turns into an expiring after next year, and teams will usually take chances to get talented defensive bigs.

That said, I’m also not sure the Knicks will want to trade him unless it’s in the right deal. If they resign iHart they may see if a reduced workload for Mitch (say 20 mpg) helps keep him healthier.
It sucks to lose Mitch, but with the way the east is shaping up this
Mike in NJ : 5/8/2024 9:21 am : link
year the team is probably better off with Precious getting those minutes. This forces Thibs to make a move he probably wouldn’t have done otherwise. As we saw in game 1, having Mitch chase Turner out to the 3 pt line wasn’t going to be a good look for NY. If they make it through this series, you’d see the same issues with Boston and Porzingis.

What will be interesting is to see who slides into the rotation. Precious was the, albeit barely used, 8th guy. Will we see Thibs dust off Burks for a few minutes tonight?

I think we'll see Precious get more minutes before Burks comes back... freezing cold from the bench with a shoulder that's not 100%
The only way Burks gets in is if we lose DDV or Hart, IMO
Heisenberg : 5/8/2024 9:45 am : link
.
McBride is going to have to get more minutes
Doubledeuce22 : 5/8/2024 11:35 am : link
and so will Precious. Could actually be a good thing for this series as Precious matches up better with their bigs than Mitch IMO.
