Love it. I also don't like the "tired" excuse for Game 4. This is how they've played for months.
That said, I am very worried about the rest of the series, assuming OG is out. Burks gave them some good minutes in both games in Indy. But, Precious has not done much, Sims is terrible, and McBride has been bad this series. Previously, whether they went 2 or 3 deep on the bench, they were getting production. But, the injuries have forced them deeper down the bench and the production is just not there. To me, DiVincenzo is still the key to this series and their success. If he knocks down 3s and makes those back cutes to the basket, they will be in games. If he is ice cold, like yesterday, they are in trouble.
Yeah with OG out I agree DD, Burks & Deuce are the key. They need 2 of them to be on as secondary scoring to win these games going forward. Its not an impossible task without OG, just a really tough one.
In this particular series, OG is a big loss defensively. He was making plays down the stretch, creating nice transition baskets for the Knicks.
They got good looks and missed, while the Pacers hit almost everything including some tough looks. The Knicks hadn’t played an all around poor game the whole postseason, they were due for one. Hopefully it’s not a trend

I agree, although the counterpoint to that is that a huge percentage of their shots were short, which is a sign of tired legs.
He was huge that Sixers series. His offense game 1 when brunson was struggling was the difference. He needs to find his shot and find it quick. He's getting beat on both ends right now by TJ McConnell.

Not like this. They had guys playing 40 minutes some nights in the regular season, sure. But not night after night after night. And not 4-5 guys. And not 50+ minutes. And not playoff basketball with its higher intensity.
And those regular season games often came with 2 or even 3 off days before or after. Or the knowledge that you were playing the Pistons or Wizards next game and could keep minutes down then.
I saw a lot of front iron yesterday. That’s tired legs.

Agreed. I think the Knicks are still capable of winning this series. But, the OG injury does make it difficult. With OG healthy, I think they would be up 3-1, at worst. With him out, and likely out the rest of this series at a minimum, they will likely require 7 games if they win and these best 3 will not be easy. They need to hit their 3s, above all else.
The Pacers are killing them because they always seem to have at least 2 guys on the floor who can hit 3s or drive. If the Knicks play up to defend the 3, they are getting killed on the drive penetrations. If they play off, the Pacers just aren't missing. Aren't they due for a crappy game now?
I think the case can be made either way, but we are either at, if not approaching and easier case to be made for the former.
I think Brunson, Hart and Divencenzo as the leaders of the team are to proud to go out like that, you could see it and hear it Hart's post game comments and same with Brunsons...Even Hartensteins..
This team has always got up off the mat and after i read they had a players only meeting i am feeling a little mkre optimistic, this team has always held each other accountable...
Do they win the series? i dont know, but they aremt ging to lay down and i think Siakim and Haliburton kicking them while they are down was a mistake

I think that's fair and I don't know about you but with each injury my intrigue for this offseason become greater and greater. I'm so excited to see what they do but I'm also very afraid of a superstar "type" 1) Because Jalen is already that guy and 2) Because I don't believe many NBA superstar personalities will fit with this culture. It's why I think I want Bridges. I'm just not sure if Brooklyn will deal with us.

I agree 100%, very excited for the offseason, think we go into next season eith championship on the mind..
I also agree about the star they add, have to be careful and make sure they fit, i do think Mitchell has that attitude needed and i agree on Bridges
I think the case can be made either way, but we are either at, if not approaching and easier case to be made for the former.
I don't think we are cooked in that I don't think a repeat of Game 4 is in our future. However, I can easily see us losing then series at this point. I just don't think it will be without a fight.
They need to do something to counter the Pacers press. This Pacers team is starting to remind me a bit of the Pitino Knicks. Shot a ton of 3s and press with their young wing players.
I love these players for leaving it all on the floor and not bitching
As a Pacers fan I see game 5 as a must win game. The Pacers can close it out in Indy game 6, but if it is Game 7 at MSG I don't think they can combat that atmosphere.

Important fact to remember for whoever gets game 5, 2 days off after game 5...meaning much needed rest for both teams and go absokutely balls to the wall to get game 5
about the refs like us fans are. But we are not winning if the officiating remains this one sided.
Agreed on both counts. I was just telling a colleague, I respect Thibs and the players for not blaming the officials in either game and taking full accountability that they need to play better. Period.
should be the first Woj bomb of the new league year. 26-5 with him. I think they’re gonna unlock a little more from him offensively too - you saw it in the last game he played.
RE: RE: Deuce has been getting some wide open looks
he is simply not shooting well, he has to make the Pacers pay for leaving him open, same goes for Hart, he is passing up open 3s as well, let it fly
But why is he letting this affect his defense? He hasn’t stayed in front of anyone in Indiana. That’s why Thibs yanked him out of game 3 at one point.
the poor defense has me puzzled. Could just be that he's a young player getting his first real playoff minutes (he barely played last year) and the moment is a little too big for him right now.
The way that some teams are using the injury report in the playoffs is very annoying. Guys like Haliburton and Embiid have been on the report every game even though there’s no chance they’re missing the game
Hope we have enough in the tank to send that clown home.
The annoying thing about Haliburton is, you know he has no balls, when the team is rolling he is loud and dancing and talking shit, but 4th quarter close game , he is playing hot potatoe with the ball hoping someone will bail him out
Let's see if all that trash talking starts when it's 0-0 instead of a 5-6 point lead. That’s where it starts. That’s the sign of a good man, if he can talk shit when it’s even score. Or talk sh*t when you're behind. When you're ahead, it's easy to talk.
The Celtics might have the easiest path to an NBA Finals I can ever recall. Even if we beat Indiana, we're going to go into that series @ a significant disadvantage. Fucking Boston.
And they have some right to boast…after all, they are a poor small market team. All it took was four injured Knicks starters to help them out.
They may very well win this series because we just don’t have the horses. But, boy do I want to beat these posers more than I did the sixers. Hoping the Knicks come to play tomorrow.
And again - Donte is nowhere near the pedigree that Booker is. If there a shot to get him this offseason, empty the cupboard for him.
he can flat out score and him and Banchero could be a really good 1-2 punch, he needs to be a better defender when he plays for a winner, but have suggs next to him would certainly help
But OKC made its free throws (23-24) and Mavs didn't (12-23).
Donkic missed a FT with 10 seconds left and a chance to tie. Holmgren then swished two big ones. A big who can make free throws (79% on the season) is a wonderful thing.

You have to start Deuce or Burks and hope they get hot from 3 because they are being left wide.open in the corners

Because the team is elite when he plays, some players have bad injury luck, but he is going to get brought back, you gave up Rj and Quick to get him

It would help things a great deal if Halliburton wasn’t left WIDE OPEN for 85% of his shots.

Simons from Portland?
