I said it last night and I’ll say it again. Should’ve rested these guys up. There’s no way they’ll keep up in this battle of attrition. Major error by Thibs.
Good thing about Bridges is he’s never missed a game - that’s important with OG playing 50-60 games per year. Mixed feelings on Mitchell but he’s obviously an upgrade.

I guy made a desperation three he had no business making or the Knicks may have won it. They had a very real shot at going up 3-0 in the series, it would have been dumb to just give up on trying to win.

is even more noticeable now that the Knicks are winning. They deserved to be clowned for most of the past 20 years, but there should be a shift happening now and it’s a little, um, slow to develop.
When the Knicks add Donovan Mitchell in the offseason or another star, then the media will start to change their tune a little bit..
Right now they view the Knicks aals a try hard team
Not counting on it. ESPN was jerking off Indiana this AM when I was watching No OG and Julius and they still could have won and they act like Indy deserved huge credit giving none to the Knicks
Yeah, I have to agree. And it’s not even a “New York” thing…it’s a “Knicks” thing. The media was overflowing with praise for the Nets in 2018/19. I mean, they were HORRIBLE for years until they played .500 ball that season and were praised in the media for their “culture” lol. AND they could have been skewered in the media with how badly the Irving/Durant/Harden/Simmons years went…but nope.
But the Knicks are in the playoffs…again…and gained the number two seed with most of their starters injured or out for most of the season. They play the game the right way and don’t piss and moan and complain about the refs to the media. Just consummate professionals. And it’s just a cute little story with a team playing over their head. So frustrating.
This is why I find it funny when fans of opposing teams (after the hey lose) say that the NBA just wants the Knicks to win. Lol, for real? How did the NBA respond after Embiid dragged Robinson down from the floor? They started deleting videos of the play from the internet, created a puff piece about Embiid that aired before the very next game, and leaked his Bells Palsy diagnosis before that same game as well. They really liked it on for that trash bag. And then sent him to the Free Throw line 800 times in the game. But yeah, the NBA totally wants the Knicks to win 🙄
No amount of stars on this Knicks team will change the narrative.
I said it last night and I’ll say it again. Should’ve rested these guys up. There’s no way they’ll keep up in this battle of attrition. Major error by Thibs.
in two different paths here. Mitchell consistently steps up in the playoffs and Garland has been generally awful.
Paired with Mobley not taking any real leap and Jarrett Allen being probably just average and you really can't feel all that great about the Cavs moving forward .

If he wasnt in cleveland id say they are trading Garland and Allen or Mobely, but his contract is almost up andbthey really dont have the assets to pull off a star trade
be above criticism until a championship is won. He still has the same faults that everyone complained about 2 years ago, but now he has Brunson here to bail him out. Also, who complains about his substitution pattern in game the most? You can’t tell me Hart at 38 min a game isn’t more effective than at 48 min. With all the stoppages, 5 min from the 9th guy off the bench can be sufficient rest for a starter.
Or let’s concentrate on blaming the bad luck with injuries, refs, the league in general and national media being biased, and the scrubbiest scrub on the opposing team getting hot at the wrong time, how’s that better discussion?
Thibs needs to give Brunson some help late in the game. He’s had a couple of bad plays at inopportune times. Can’t have him go 1 on 5 with how the Pacers are bodying him.
no matter ehat happens, if Rose and company do their job right, this will be the wordt team the Knicks have going in the playoffs in the next 5 years..
This team is built to get a championship in the next 5 years, they have the foundation, forget todays result, it doesnt even matter ehat happens in these playoffs, this team is built for the future..
we cant lose sight of that even when the media is going to kill this team..
they need a miracle recovery from OG in game 6 with the extra day off

Agree with the timeline. I don't agree with not worrying about this year. It will always stick with me that they were poised to make a run before injuries and even at that, could have had a shot if OG hadn't gotten hurt. He needs to be 100% to realistically have a shot moving forward.
At least Burks has given them some scoring off the bench. McBride is a real disappointment this series and his poor play has been a big factor.
Has Hartenstein blown his free agency with his playoff
non performance? He’s been absolutely horrendous outside of game 2 versus Philly. Opponents seem to be shooting 96% when he’s the primary defender. His rebounding has been pathetically bad this series. He’s late with help at the rim. His turnovers are comical. I’m tired of looking at him.
I think the shooting recovers on Tuesday.
I think they definitley need a bench and starters can't be expected
to all play 45 minutes a night. But, I also don't accept them being tired as an excuse. They've played with a short bench all year long by choice. This is how they have won and this is how they should be expected to continue to win this year.
The only excuse right now is OG hurt. Precious needs to step up and Burks has already far exceeded expectations.

At this point i wouldnt waste the money, you are going to pay a lretty penny for OG, maybe extend Brunson this offseason, jf not definitely next offseason and most likely trade for a guy who is or going to be making 50 million...
You can find a center who does ehat Hartenstein does for 50% of the cost
RE: RE: they need a miracle recovery from OG in game 6 with the extra day off
thats the most realistic path to a series victory.
i dont see any other way.
you cant see a team that has gotten off the mat every time they were left for dead coming back in game 5 which will be at home?
those teams were different, they had more people/talent.
you can only lose so much. this is math.
you can lose 1, you can lose 2, you can lose 3 guys. you cant lose 4 or 5 guys.
they have lost 50% of their rotation minutes.

And yet there they were up in the 4th qtr Friday night. This team has balls and they'll show up and play a lot better Tuesday night. Thankfully they have more balls than some of their fans.
Deuce has been a disaster this series. I don't know what happened
he was playing with such poise and confidence against the 76ers and now it's like he's a rookie again. With him playing poorly and brunson hurt, we are struggling at the PG position.
I know they have no choice but to resign OG (given what we gave up for him and the market) but is this really a guy you give a huge contract to? He seems to always be injured. Brunson is literally playing on one leg and OG can't gut it out?
If they can't get another star this offseason then depth is key. We need a true backup PG, a backup PF, a backup SF (if Bogs gets traded), and another bench shooter since we can't really count on Deuce.

They got good looks they didn’t fall. Burks may have found a groove. Need to ditch the two big lineup.
I’d stark Burks.
thibs has a big challenge, how can solve the siakam matchup without killing the offense?
The thing that worked pre OG injury was iHart on Siakim. Let hart guard Turner. Turner doesn’t want to post you up and even if he does try to take advantage of the height advantage let him. The Pacers can’t beat you that way

Problem is this lineup was getting killed on the boards. I agree though, the two big lineup almost never works, so just go small and hope to shoot your way into a win.
The small lineup may also be worth exploring some zone/trap defense with. Miami always does that and it sometimes throws the opposing team into a tailspin offensively. Without OG and a banged up brunson we have to be creative.
This loss was somewhat predictable after the huge Dante/Burks game Friday night. That was the one we had to steal, but couldn't. Let's see how they respond. I think if they lose Game 5, this is over in 6, if they win game 5 it's probably going 7.
The number of injuries this postseason has been crazy, not just for the Knicks. League has gotta figure this out because no one wants to see teams compete without their best players.

I think OG signs 5 years 185, which will look like a bargain in a couple of yesrs becaise of the new tv rights deal..
The key to the offseason is going out getting the star to pair with Brunson...
You got a core and an idnetity, make sure that star fits that..

That may eventually look like a bargain, but boy that's a lot of money for a player that averages 60 games per season and has missed the biggest playoff series his teams have been in (finals the year the Raptors went, and now this series).

Randle would be traded in that sitatuation..
You have 2 elite 3 and d wings both can create a little bit when needed..
Divencenzo at the 2 is another elite shooter..
Complete spacing for Brunson to work..

The league really took Carlisle's comments to heart.

You're right, but still pretty awful.

If they can't get another star this offseason then depth is key. We need a true backup PG, a backup PF, a backup SF (if Bogs gets traded), and another bench shooter since we can't really count on Deuce.
