He seems like he has laker written all over him

I would handicap it as Spurs, Nets then Lakers...

I jist have this gut feeling that Lebron is leaving and then AD will ask to be traded and the Lakers are going to blow it up...

If AD becomes available Knicks should be all over that. He’d be the perfect stretch 5 for this team

No the Lakers are talking about hiring Lebron's new podcast buddy JJ Redick. He's not going anywhere.

Borrega is also a finalist there, who they hire will really tell the story of what they are going to do, i think if it was a slam dunk that Lebron was returning, Redick would already be hired

If AD were to ask to be traded, he would be my #1 target if I am the Knicks. Slot him into the starting lineup as the center next to Randle, OG, Divencenzo and Brunson and NY should be the favorite in the east next year.

Agreed, a deal of Bojan, Mitch and Deuce plus draft picks might be enough, especially if Lebron leaves
Why don't the Knicks ever wear their traditional blue jersey?
Sean : 5/13/2024 10:03 am : link
I'll sound old for this, but I really do miss a designated home and road jersey in the NBA with an option for a third alternate. The Knicks mostly wear jerseys now which they won't wear next season. There is no year over year consistency anymore.

More jerseys = more money
Minutes police
TyreeHelmet : 5/13/2024 10:48 am : link
I see the minutes police is back for the Knicks and Thibs. Criticizing them for trying to win friday night instead of punting?

Pointing out Hart playing 48 mins back to back but he hasn't gotten hurt and has played great.

Are people really suggesting he should have punted a playoff game and load manage the next 3 games? Truly insane.

Maybe the minutes of caught up to the top guys or maybe they have lost 4 of their top 8 rotation and that plays a major part?

Some weird takes.

That's the thing. I'm sure Thibs would have loved to manage minutes better this season, but they lost Randle, OG, and Mitch for a large part of the season. IHart had a bad Achilles. Only so much you can do when three rotation guys go down. And now in the playoffs they lose an additional rotation piece in Bogs.

I don't fault Thibs for any of this. He's putting his best team out there and hoping for a win. If they won Friday night (as they could have), we're 3-1 in the series going home.
Its crazy to think about
nygiants16 : 5/13/2024 10:57 am : link
but Hart was playing arounf 25 to 30 minutes a nighy with everyone healthy, Divencenzo was playing 20 to 25 minutes a night..

I am mad and i am frudtrated but its not at the team, certain players i wish were playing better but this team is beat up, they have injuries all over, how many teams could withstand injuries to their 2md best and 3rd best players and still win 50 games?

I am not saying its a throwaway year but this year really sucks with injuries and it happens but it really sucks

All good points
Stu11 : 5/13/2024 11:04 am : link
Not to mention Thibs going all out in the regular season means that game tomorrow night as well as a potential game 7 is at MSG, not the road which with all our injuries feels a hell of a lot better.

I was listening to Bill Simmons this morning, and as everyone here knows he's usually super critical of the Knicks, but even he was like sometimes this happens to teams in the playoffs...they just get hit with injuries all at the same time. He made the point that the Knicks haven't been in many postseasons the last ten years so this one hurts even more, they're basically playing with a team of 6 NBA players right now.

They could have punted Friday and still lost by 30 yesterday too.

nygiants16 : 5/13/2024 11:10 am : link
they may lose just from lack of bodies but they arent letting down, You dont think Josh Hart, Divencenzo and Brunson saw Haliburton pointing and laughing on the court?

You think Brunson took it lightly when Siakim pushed him as they were walking in the locker room before half or mcconnell getting in his face and talking shit?

This tram sees that shit, guaranteed they walked into that locker room pissed off, Deuce made mention they sat down as a team and talked this shit out...

Pacers are a good team but you dont kick an opponent when they are downespecially this one until you made sure they are dead...
Thibs
TyreeHelmet : 5/13/2024 11:11 am : link
At this point what do they want the guy to do? Play Jericho Sims big minutes...have you watched him out there?

He has no one left. You really want him to rest players for a playoff game?

He's trying to win I really don't understand the criticism. And don't try to blame the injuries on the minutes, that doesn't add him for any of those 4 guys.

Love it. I also don't like the "tired" excuse for Game 4. This is how they've played for months.

That said, I am very worried about the rest of the series, assuming OG is out. Burks gave them some good minutes in both games in Indy. But, Precious has not done much, Sims is terrible, and McBride has been bad this series. Previously, whether they went 2 or 3 deep on the bench, they were getting production. But, the injuries have forced them deeper down the bench and the production is just not there. To me, DiVincenzo is still the key to this series and their success. If he knocks down 3s and makes those back cutes to the basket, they will be in games. If he is ice cold, like yesterday, they are in trouble.

Yeah with OG out I agree DD, Burks & Deuce are the key. They need 2 of them to be on as secondary scoring to win these games going forward. Its not an impossible task without OG, just a really tough one.

In this particular series, OG is a big loss defensively. He was making plays down the stretch, creating nice transition baskets for the Knicks.
Yea I don’t think they were tired
ajr2456 : 5/13/2024 1:19 pm : link
They got good looks and missed, while the Pacers hit almost everything including some tough looks. The Knicks hadn’t played an all around poor game the whole postseason, they were due for one. Hopefully it’s not a trend

I agree, although the counterpoint to that is that a huge percentage of their shots were short, which is a sign of tired legs.
We desperately need Deuce to step up
LW_Giants : 5/13/2024 1:27 pm : link
He was huge that Sixers series. His offense game 1 when brunson was struggling was the difference. He needs to find his shot and find it quick. He's getting beat on both ends right now by TJ McConnell.

Not like this. They had guys playing 40 minutes some nights in the regular season, sure. But not night after night after night. And not 4-5 guys. And not 50+ minutes. And not playoff basketball with its higher intensity.

And those regular season games often came with 2 or even 3 off days before or after. Or the knowledge that you were playing the Pistons or Wizards next game and could keep minutes down then.

I saw a lot of front iron yesterday. That’s tired legs.

Agreed. I think the Knicks are still capable of winning this series. But, the OG injury does make it difficult. With OG healthy, I think they would be up 3-1, at worst. With him out, and likely out the rest of this series at a minimum, they will likely require 7 games if they win and these best 3 will not be easy. They need to hit their 3s, above all else.

The Pacers are killing them because they always seem to have at least 2 guys on the floor who can hit 3s or drive. If the Knicks play up to defend the 3, they are getting killed on the drive penetrations. If they play off, the Pacers just aren't missing. Aren't they due for a crappy game now?

I think Brunson, Hart and Divencenzo as the leaders of the team are to proud to go out like that, you could see it and hear it Hart's post game comments and same with Brunsons...Even Hartensteins..

This team has always got up off the mat and after i read they had a players only meeting i am feeling a little mkre optimistic, this team has always held each other accountable...

Do they win the series? i dont know, but they aremt ging to lay down and i think Siakim and Haliburton kicking them while they are down was a mistake

I think that's fair and I don't know about you but with each injury my intrigue for this offseason become greater and greater. I'm so excited to see what they do but I'm also very afraid of a superstar "type" 1) Because Jalen is already that guy and 2) Because I don't believe many NBA superstar personalities will fit with this culture. It's why I think I want Bridges. I'm just not sure if Brooklyn will deal with us.

I don't think we are cooked in that I don't think a repeat of Game 4 is in our future. However, I can easily see us losing then series at this point. I just don't think it will be without a fight.

They need to do something to counter the Pacers press. This Pacers team is starting to remind me a bit of the Pitino Knicks. Shot a ton of 3s and press with their young wing players.

the poor defense has me puzzled. Could just be that he's a young player getting his first real playoff minutes (he barely played last year) and the moment is a little too big for him right now.
