Looks like 2025 NFL Draft is gonna be ๐˜ฟ๐™€๐™€๐™‹!
I believe itโ€™s because ย

Covid is now over - and all those guys who got an extra year now have to move on from college.

Keeping guys in school is producing more players who will have draftable grades isn't a bad thing even if it takes away from some of the high end projection because you have seen them with more reps under their belt.

That's a good part of it.

Guys who are going to be taken in rounds 4, 5, 6 and 7 aren't making enough NIL money to keep them around for an extra year. Banks made a grand total of a little over $19K in NIL money. He went in the first round. How much do you think a guy drafted No. 200 is getting?

The only guys who might be hanging around for NIL money are guys like Ewers ($1.2 million), but even he would have made more as a first round pick.

Agreed the top three rounds type of players are probably what will make the 2025 draft a good draft.
Trading for future picks would have been smart. ย

Ugh ย
Dnew15 : 5/14/2024 11:46 am : link
being a fan of a team that drafts top 10 every year is rough.

Usually at this time of year there's at least a little bit of optimism that it won't be the case.

Not this year.

Sy thanks for the input. At least we have all our picks and perhaps pick up a comp one.

Giants don't have their 6th, but have an extra 7th (from Basham trade)

They have the Seahawks 5th (LW trade), but traded their 5th (Burns)

So, they won't have their 5th and 6th round picks, but will have the Seahawks 5th and the Bills 7th

I believe that is correct. This is what I have:

1
2
3
4
5 (this might be gone as part of Burns trade - conditional)
5 (from Seahawks as part of Williams trade)
7
7 (from Bills as part of Basham trade)

* Giants 6th round is gone from Basham trade.

What I don't want the Giants to do this year is trade away picks in early September before final cutdowns.
Eric... ย
KDavies : 5/14/2024 2:15 pm : link
that is correct, with one caveat. The only question I have is the Burns pick. Every article I find doesn't mention it being conditional. Any info on the condition(s)? I'm sure the Giants want the condition to come to fruition (as it would likely be Burns staying healthy/reaching minimal standards)
this is all I've found on it ย
KDavies : 5/14/2024 2:28 pm : link
"The Panthers, who used their franchise tag on Burns last week, will receive 2024 second- and fifth-round selections (Nos. 39 and 141 overall, respectively) and a 2025 conditional fifth-rounder in the trade, which cannot become official until the start of the league year on Wednesday. The Giants also receive a 2024 fifth-round pick (No. 166) in the deal."

Still doesn't answer anything for me though, as it appears vague. The write-up is ambiguous. It reads to me that the 5th rounder became official at the start of the league year. However, I could also see where it could mean that the conditional fifth rounder was still conditional but could not be officially part of the deal until the start of the league year.
