Isn’t that the true representation? Or a three quarter length?
It baffles me that many truly have no respect for the pioneers before us. I used to love the old school GB and Bears uni’s. Always was disappointed we never participated. Just look at the movie Chariots of Fire and the fashion, look at Ralph Lauren and many of his rugby throwbacks, the winged foot…. Paying homage to the generations before us is the ultimate show of respect and binds us together. I grew up with the Giants Logo on the helmet but I much prefer the ny. Seeing the old pics of Frank Gifford, YA, Rosevelt Brown, etc in the NY helmet always made me want to see LT in that helmet at least 1.
TrueBlueLarry's website - Does anyone have a link to it?
We are just so used to blue and white and don't even realize how big red was for the first few decades of the team. Even if it is "objectively" ugly (which I don't think it is), it has subjective beauty.
At least there is personality. As opposed to everyone wearing some version of black.
Anyway, the first thing that came to mind were the old Montreal Alouttes jerseys. Maybe from the 1980s?
Bottom line: these uniforms have personality. Embrace it. Enjoy it.

wonder if CTE is contagious and some of y'all stood next to Aaron Rodgers recently.
Yes, the color scheme is ridiculous compared to modern uniforms but this isn't a Nike sneaker drop for a new rap single, it's a freaking throw back to the type of uniforms worn in the 1930's. Who cares if it ugly, it's purpose is to celebrate the fact that fans have been able to enjoy Giants' Football for a century. This is about Mel Hein, Emlen Tunnell, Andy Robustelli, Y.A. Tittle, etc... If that doesn't excite you and you can't get past the freaking color scheme then go to fucking hell and start rooting for the Cowboys. You would fit in well with their bandwagon fanbase
RE: RE: Wan'Dale ain't a fan of these craptastic unis either it seems...lol
when my grandfather was younger. I find it very cool to go back to an era when a lot of other people’s older relatives were younger and watched them play in these. Some may have even started their fandom.

Just another idiotic decision by this once proud franchise. Who cares if this is what they used to wear? There is a good reason smart people got rid of these a long time ago - they look like a laughably bad vaudeville troupe.
Looks like something Chris would have his jockeys wear.

Even though I agree, I'm ok with them wearing these unis ONCE---just once at a home game---since it's the team's centennial season (I can't believe I'm saying this, lol).
lol. At least we're not the only ones to break it to you E, lol. I'll throw you a history guys a bone: if it makes you happy to see these in the team's centennial season, the ok. But just once and just this season!
P.S. We're seeing these twice this season (home and away) Eric?
But I do not like the helmet I would have really loved the New York Football Giants Skyline logo on the helmet, that would have been sick, helmets are way too plain but the ode’ to the tradition of this 100 year franchise is awesome and I will be buying a jersey for sure, don’t know what player to get might have to customize it with my own name

I don't know... it's probably in the press release.
I actually don't get caught up in this stuff Everyone keeps saying the Giants 80s throwbacks are amazing, but they don't look the same. The color is off or something. Larry probably can pinpoint it. But if you put on a game with LT and Carson and Simms, the uniforms aren't "right."
What I like about this is it shoves down the throat of fans that the Giants actually have a history that pre-dates the Super Bowl era, and those years were instrumental in the history of the NFL and the team.
and honestly, it's quite an audacious look for the normally conservative Giants, and I welcome it.
And like Eric has stated above several times: IT'S HISTORY.
When you break it down, most of the uniform comes from the 1932-33 seasons. The winged helmet comes from 1937-47 (though, the Giants wore two different wings, this one dates to 1939-47). I guess they didn't like the look of the spider stripe helmet on the contemporary shell. The wing is much easier to replicate.
I think it's a very cool look.
And for those clamoring "the Giants are Big Blue, they shouldn't wear red" just take a look at the Gridiron Uniform Database link he posted, from 1925-1952 red was the Giants primary color. From 1953-56 they wore white at home most of the time. Big Blue didn't happen until 1957.

The 1980s-90s jerseys had a change in the tone of blue. The 1980-88 was slightly darker, the 1989-1999 were a little brighter. I think the ones the Giants wear now as the Legacy Uniforms is close to the 1989-1999 version.

If you think they’re awesome then they’re awesome! End of discussion.
We are a team that seems stuck in the past, with our crappy stadium, and musty-looking old uniforms. 100 years old is cool but these uniforms just don't do our history justice.
Just like this team is going to underwhelm in 2024, the new/old uniform is a disappointment.
Thanks. That makes sense... something seemed "off" with the shade. Obviously, the actual physical contours of the helmet have changed with improved helmet technology.

It is. All the work I've done over the years researching for the GUD seeing something out of the past come to life is awesome.
I'd always hoped after the Steelers, Packers and Bears had gone deep into their history for throwback uniforms that the Giants would do the same one day. Like I said, they're a conservative organization, so something like this is a probably a stretch of their normal comfort zone. I'm glad they took a shot, and in my opinion, have done a really good job. I think these are going to look great on the field.
You want to go 1980s old school... get this facemask
Great job by the team.

He told me at the Super Bowl he gained 13 pounds since he got drafted and was looking to add a couple more pounds of muscle before the season.
I linked to it above. It's also linked at the bottom of his BBI article above.

Look at the responses here. One of the most common is, “Let’s just go back to the throwbacks of the 80s-90s permanently!”
Like it was the jersey when this franchise started.
People actually LIKE the 80s/90s unis. that's why. Simple concept...
Yes. I get that. But it’s been done and, this is their 100th season.
And, again, people are really getting up in arms about a uniform combo that will be worn twice in the year?

And the helmet lines bring me back to my New Rochelle Pop Warner football days playing for the Arrow Louvers and Rawlplug Thunderbolts.
