Only two teams with obvious needs there, this early? LVR and NYG. Not as strong a class, but I like both Beck and Ewers. Dubious about Sanders right now, most especially because of his father (who's still a douche). But it's still early.

Sanders' aura smells like the Ball family (NBA)

Dart, Ward, and Donovan Smith are also on my radar of guys I am going to try and prioritize viewing next fall. What are your thoughts? Note, I am purposely naming guys not in the five you listed in the video.
Graham Mertz is also on my radar
Mike in NY : 5/16/2024 5:17 pm : link
I want to see if he makes progress or is he more like the guy we saw at Wisconsin
Deion was not the de facto OC...
bw in dc : 5/16/2024 5:19 pm : link
at either Jax St or Colorado. And he never called plays.

Keep in mind, too, Sanders got so beat up by the worst OL I saw in college in 2023 that he broke his back. And they aren't sure when it actually happened.

Totally agree about Milroe. He looks like a TE or Will LB playing QB. A great physical runner in the mold of Josh Allen. I think it was good he didn't transfer when Saban left and DeBoer will get a chance to work with him.
2025 QBs
Cheech d : 5/16/2024 5:21 pm : link
Thanks David for the advance look at the QB’s
I see good things in Beck, Milroe and Ewers but not enough to be excited.
I was on the Milroe bandwagon last season until the Michigan game. He had a poor game against Michigan’s defense…. But then again, so did Penix.
As you stated , other names emerge as the season gets going.
Sanders
BigBlueCane : 5/16/2024 5:31 pm : link
ain't it chief, he's the worst one of the bunch.

Remember form Giants coach Shurmur at Colorado.

Giants will move towards 1st and 3rd QB.

The rest are questionable.

Excellent call. Far better prospect than Howard.
Lots to watch this year
jvm52106 : 5/16/2024 5:38 pm : link
and quite frankly we have zero idea how this class will shake out.. I think there will be opportunities to get guys mid late Rd 1 and rd 2 this coming year because so many QB's were drafted this year and last year..

Beck or bust

Thank you.

I work with my head down and my head phones on. It helps to have something to listen to while at work, so thank you, seriously. & if you ever got into doing longer videos, talking more ball, I would 100% listen and I’m sure a lot of people will as well.

WR summer preview next? & if I may, right now, who you drafting first Burden III or Tet McMillan?
Surprised
NJBlueTuna : 5/16/2024 5:50 pm : link
Not much on Dart, Jackson Arnold (he might not be eligible) or Allar. The latter can make a big jump if he gets some OL/WR help and cuts loose a bit more. Look at his TD/nt ratio last year along with his size.
Great analysis, Sy. Thanks
Mike from Ohio : 5/16/2024 5:51 pm : link
I know there is a lot of football to be played, but if things go the way many expect, the Giants in 2025 may still be trotting Jones out there, or overdrafting a weak QB prospect out of desperation.

If Jones is injured again, I think there is a very real chance they will go the free agent route for a 2-3 year solution.
How many QBs from the 2024 draft

Thanks. Part of the reason why I have warmed to the Nabers pick is, although there is nobody of Caleb Williams's hype, there are more names that strike me as the potential to be better than JJ McCarthy level than we were looking at in, say, the 2022 Draft.

Those free agents will continue to get locked up though. It might be Dak.

Beck is my QB1. Was hoping to hear something on Conner Weigman and Cam Ward.
Mertz
Archer : 5/16/2024 6:11 pm : link
Great call on Mertz.

I was not impressed with his play at Wisconsin.
But I became interested in him last year after the South Carolina game.

He was great.

He has some Mahomes in his game.
He always looks to throw the ball, runs to extend plays, and throws from a variety of platforms.

Mertz has great form and footwork.

However, I have some concerns that there are times when his ball tends to tail or fade. This happens when there is not enough zip on the throw. I don't know if he has the prerequisite skills to play in the NFL. He appears to be a less-than-average athlete.

He trails the top QBs and this year will be crucial for him.

Sy has already said McMillian has a higher ceiling than any WR from this past draft. McMillan might be his highest ranked player next year.

I forget if it was South Carolina game or not, but when I was doing more research on Pearsall there were aspects of Mertz's game that stood out to me as someone just on the watch list for next year.

Arm talent is pretty high level, but there is a nonchalance to his game that is a bit of a turn-off.

Sy is right about the Alabama game last year in Tuscaloosa. Ewers was awesome.
Arch Manning

I don't want to overhype Arch but he was amazing at the Orange-White spring game.

Normally I watch spring practice games out of curiosity.
Once in a while, something happens that is just special.

You have to watch Arch against the first-team defense.

Arch will be special. If I am the Giants I do everything possible to be in the position to draft him.

A Veteran SEC defensive coordinator on Carson Beck:
“I think he’ll be the No. 1 overall pick. A few things really stood out to me after playing him. He runs better than you think because he doesn’t do it often and he has such a quick release. He gets rid of it fast as s—. And he’s really intelligent. He’s one of the few quarterbacks who doesn’t look to the sidelines all the time. We were showing 0 (blitz) and he got them into a little quick screen. He’s really impressive.”
Arch Manning

Just a little more on Arch.

Quote:
At the Elite 11 camp in Las Vegas where he set a SPARQ score record for quarterbacks by posting a 133.56. He accomplished that feat by recording a 4.64 time in the 40-yard dash and a 4.19 time in the shuttle. He also threw a 45.5 power ball and posted a 38.3-inch vertical.

Ewers had a lot of really good games. Stats were 3,479 yds, 22 TDs, 6 Ints, 78+ QBR

I like Deon but I think he s hurting his son draft wise. Teams will stay away in my opinion.

A few days before the draft, I was going to start a thread saying I was looking forward to fresh start at QB - a new QB, moving on from Jones, and not having to think about a QB replacement ideas for two years.

Instead...

Chapter Six of the Daniel Jones Experience. ;)

I'm like 'Can't wait for the season to start...'/insert eye roll emoji. I can't recall a season I've been less enthused about in awhile...maybe the mid '90s? & before people dunk on me, yeah...I'm going to watch the games/I'm not a fair weather fan, but my enthusiasm level for this coming year is below the ground. I hope I'm wrong & we surprise the world, but I'm sure AF not expecting it.

Then don’t fucking watch. Holy shit.

If you can’t look forward to see what our young defense can do, see what Nabers can bring to the table, and eee if the new OL pieces pan out - then maybe you are a fair weather fan.

You’re obsession for Jones is truly remarkable.

2014 and 2015 rosters were in much worse condition than the current group.

It helped they had Eli freaking Manning but he was wasted nonetheless. Defensively, they were starting fringe guys. Offensive players they relied on were non-starters on other teams.

But there are a lot of Teams that may jump at the chance for a QB- because their QB for example are getting old or just aren't good or they are stuck in rebuild.

1--- Jets
2--- Steelers
3--- Tennesseee
4--- Rams
5--- Saints
6--- Seahawks
7--- Tampa Bay .

The '15 team was weirdly competitive despite the lack of elite talent. They lost a lot of games that fall that still bug me: Week 1 in Dallas, Week 2 vs. Atlanta, that game in NOLA, the WFT game in DC, the Jets game, the Beckham vs. Norman game...& the one that took the cake IMO...the Pats game. If Collins doesn't try to make that absurd leap for an INT, DRC is right there to pick it off. Game over.
