Are legitimately insane. This is a traffic incident that resulted in some nut job cop charging him with a felony. This could have been de escalated about 100x over
Is getting pulled out of your car, handcuffed, taken to jail, and charged with a felony because the authorities were delivering mixed messages about traffic flow.
Agreed. The cop goofed and overreacted. Unfortunately, an all too common LE response to that is to throw the book at you and then offer to be "lenient" & toss them in exchange for you not kicking up a fuss about their behavior.
Anyone here not stop and try to explain verbally, rather than continue

This is completely dependent on the sequence of events being as he and his attorney has described, correct?
A different story if for instance he ignored the officer and nearly hit someone or endangered someone?

Also the ESPN reporter who saw the whole thing and didn't say anything about nearly hitting someone
Anyone could have mistaken whether the person was a cop. I think the people who are not "entitled" still have interactions with the police with many of those interactions being negative.
What's the difference if a cop or not? You're at the scene of an accident, you obey anyone controlling the area.
If the video circulating is the scene, it's pretty difficult to believe he didn't know the guy in the bright yellow reflective emergency jacket, surrounded by all of the other guys in bright yellow reflective emergency jackets, standing by the countless police cars -- was a cop.
I think b/c he was 50 yards from the entrance, its a matter of PGA personnel directing players in vs police. The lanes were separated for traffic and golf club entrance
There were a lot of course security people there too, and I'd be amazed if they weren't wearing yellow reflective vests in the dark, and standing near the police cars (because they couldn't not be standing by police cars.
It doesn't matter what someone else told you over the phone, if a police officer instructs you to stop just do it. You don't have all of the information on what's changed in a chaotic environment. The police are dealing with a situation where someone has just been killed. I think they're best equipped to determine where you and shouldn't drive in that moment.
I don't think it's a punishable crime, but it's certainly not the cop's fault.
Except the cop who arrested him was dealing the the traffic, not the investigation. And assaulting a police officer? Because the office grabbed onto his car? (And Scheffler stopped when that happened). That's just insane. Talk about trying to justify an overreaction.
And remember, according to ESPN, the cops were letting golfers and tournament official and staff to bypass the blocked traffic.

Which they apparently did.
He was in a marked car and told to bypass the traffic just as others had.
hopefully cooler heads prevail. The cop was dealing with the scene of a death. I don't blame him for being amped up.
No, the cop was dealing with traffic. Investigators were dealing with the scene of the fatal accident. It's two different jobs. People investigating the accident don't handle traffic control.
Like I posted above -- with that many police cars and officers on the scene there will be footage.
If he proceeded as he was directed, and then misunderstood the directions of the next officer, that will be clear. If the officer acted recklessly and disproportionately, it will be addressed.
All of us are familiar with a chaotic traffic situation where there are multiple people giving you direction in a sequence. Just because the first guy passes you through, doesn't mean you don't have to pay attention or can ignore the next guy.
the cop is injured and went to the hospital....cops now claiming the Scheffler dragged the guy. Seems that what is being reported is not what the cops are saying. But as some have said, there likely will be body cam footage and video footage.
But in the dark and looking to see where to go.. easy to lose the moment.
Best to leave this until it gets sorted out. Three sides to every story. Doesn't sound like either one handled this very well.
I suspect the Louisville PD is going to be very happy/lucky that they did this to Scottie Scheffler and not someone a little more vindictive like a Pat Reed or Phil Mickelson
Shockingly, the Louisville PD has claimed not to have any video of the scene. I know it's hard to believe, but somehow the body cam was not functioning. Just more bad luck for the Louisville PD I guess.
awfully interesting there was 'no body cam' footage
but that's been postponed two weeks to 6/3, while in the meantime, the Louisville PD is investigating whether department policies were followed during the arrest.
and the officer, evidently unhappy that the vehicle is moving, running up to it and striking the driver side of the car.
There is nothing that shows the officer being hit/knocked down/dragged, and I suspect none of that happened. I doubt Scheffler would have continued to drive if any of that happened.

So what do we want to guess is the punishment for lying about a felony and falsifying an official police report? One slap on the wrist or two?

Officially, he's been "disciplined" in an unspecified manner for not having the bodycam on.
There are unofficial reports (at the link) the officer has been fired.

That dude is a fucking moron.
(Checking notes)...Oh, that's me. Haha. Yeah, that was an idiotic post that looks even more idiotic tonight.
Sometimes it is better to wait before blaming - kind of like the cop in this incident.
You would think someone would have told him the players get marked courtesy cars.
I bet if he didn't trip himself and get hurt it never would have gone this far.
Between the eye witness reports and that video it’s 100% clear the psycho cop lied and then doubled down on an effing felony. I am just curious where all the people who where defending this clown show resulting in an arrest are. The fact it was scheffler the most soft spoken dude in professional sports made it that much more laughable.

My sincere apologies to those that know all about everything.

Until everything is known, people shouldn't comment?
Odd take for a message board.
There was a reporter there, they gave an account of what they saw. Is that ok? They surely don't know everything either.

Won’t someone think of the golfers?!

@MillerHHunter
Rory McIlroy gets divorced the same weekend that Scottie Scheffler is arrested?
The balls not the only things he's hitting the shit out of today.
Apparently reached in the window and grabbed hold.
Your normal attempt at de-escalation over a traffic issue.
Quote:
How the fk did he attach himself to the car and get dragged to the ground? I guess that will come out in footage.

He is a detective, too. Thought detectives had more on the ball?
Weird shit.

What do you mean?
He turned this into a felony, if I'm reading this right.
@JayCuda
all of scottie scheffler's second rounds in majors, listed from best to worst

Meanwhile a dozen people will be killed in Chicago this weekend

From a couple tweets I'm seeing they may be dropping all of the charges in the next couple days..

The video is out.
There is none. He was disciplined for not turning it on.
Scheffler should get off any day now. No reason this needs to go any further.
The video is out.
What was the sequence of events?

knows jack shit about what happened or the sequence of events as they unfolded, so perhaps we all should lighten up a bit.

Somehow, there has to have been a gopher involved!
