People are insane to buy
k2tampa : 5/17/2024 1:20 pm : link
these things. They are pure and simply a money grab by the leagues and teams. The NBA city jerseys, the MLB alternate unis, the NFL (the Giants' "new" old unis are simply ugly). Not to mention "throwback" jerseys are supposed to remind people of their past years cheering for their team. How many Giants fans are left from the 1930s? Zero.

Likely no one. They are lying in order to convince those on the fence that they better buy it before "it's gone"
Gotta pay for those

collectors boxes, replica rings, and collectors ticket somehow.

$90 for a long sleeve shirt?

Hopefully these prices are in Pesos.

If they come out with a jacket it will probably be $900
NY is the financial capital of the world

they're pricing for the top of the market.
If limited inventory sells at huge margins, it's a big win.

This is not about getting fairly priced merch out to the entire fan base. It's about maximizing profit on a limited materials investment.

You guys know that.
Carl Banks is price gouging
ElitoCanton : 5/17/2024 1:35 pm : link
plain and simple. The shirts aren't even 100 percent cotton.

Why do I see a 50 percent off sale coming in a few months?
You could buy a generic hoodie for $20
Greg from LI : 5/17/2024 1:53 pm : link
And spend another $20 to get "1925" printed on it, and it would look identical.

Then why are the prices the same for other teams that aren't in the financial capital of the world?

They did a collab with Kith last year and it was very good, pricey but good.

Good designs and material.
If you're going to charge that much money;

can you do alittle better than putting just "1925" on the shirts/hoodies? I mean..

Especially when they probably cost $10 to make. Notice how the description says ‘imported’ but, not from where?

A $200 item in 1925
Pete in MD : 5/18/2024 1:21 pm : link
would cost $3500 today, so it’s really a big bargain.
Just nuts!
solarmike : 5/18/2024 2:20 pm : link
$200+ for a crappy hoody? Who the hell set those prices? No one will know what 1925 means anyway. Fuck'em.

I'll go buy a Winchester Wildcat SR.22 for plinking instead.

Wildcat
I will admit
mattnyg05 : 5/18/2024 8:08 pm : link
at first, I thought that the idea of Giants gear that doesn't necessarily have "GIANTS" all over it was somewhat clever. I'm sure many of you on this site have had the same realization I've had over the years: there's only so much Giants shit you can wear.

So I figured hey, maybe not such a bad idea. Then the price came... It's a complete failure for that reason. I get the whole streewear/fashion/"high quality fabric" thing but it's a gigantic swing and a miss. I do like the 100 year logo though and some of that stuff (which is ALSO expensive but not on the same planet as the 1925 abomination).
This is all on Carl Banks
ElitoCanton : 5/18/2024 8:31 pm : link
This is his company that is charging all this crap and he's justifying it a high thread count. Of course, he doesn't address the high press for the other items.
