Every UDFA is a long shot understood. Player benches 500 pounds, squats 600 pounds and lifts the 225 42x. That is impressive.I don't remember seeing anyone else at the combines with 42 bench prep reps.He will be able to get under the pads of the taller o lineman and push with force. May have a chance to be a player despite being under 6 feet.

Not saying this guy is ANY of these players..
but there have been VERY effective " shorter " players at the DT position in the NFL

Poona Ford and Mike Patterson too
With that said…he’s a future HOF but unfortunately we don’t have….nevermind.

He's more than an inch shorter than those guys. And for comparison he had 4.5 sacks as a senior (and 13 sacks in 5 years). And average fewer than 2.5 tackles a game as a senior.
Randle as a senior had 14 sacks (20 as a junior), and averaged 5.3 tackles a game.
There is a reason he wasn't one of the 500 guys drafted or signed as UDFA. Let's hope he works out, but let's be realistic.
He played 6 years in the NFL and was undrafted.
Quote:
and he was 6'1". Aaron Donald was 6'ft 1". Jon Randle 6'1". Casey Hampton 6'1"...

As I said... I AM NOT SAYING HE IS ANY OF THESE PLAYERS...
you can be short and be effective at the DT position. Its one of those things where being able to get low can be a huge advantage. You always hear coaches talk about keeping your pad level down... well if your already low.... and apparently he is very strong.. hell he might even be the next Josh Seawright !!!
The current list of players on the Giants with those traits is very few.
So, yes....he has an opportunity...this year.
If the rumors are true, practicing with pads against the Lions, with a great OL....should be a good test.
I expect the Giants will target a penetrating DT next year.
Maybe NFL coaching unlocks his potential, stranger things have happened, but the greater likelihood is that he is a physical marvel who hasn’t figured out how to translate those traits to production on the field.
