Notes:
-Today’s game will be on WPIX as will tomorrow’s matinée.
-The forecast for this afternoon’s game in Miami is steaming, but since LoanDepot Park has a retractable roof, the weather won’t matter.
-The Mets are running into the Marlins at a strange time. While the Fish have the worst record in MLB presently, they’re actually playing well now. They’ve thrown three consecutive shutouts (including last night) for the third time in their franchise’s history and for the first time since 2005. FYI: Tylor Megill will start on Monday in Cleveland.

-The Mets' 4-man bench for today's game will consist of
Narváez (L), Stewart (L), Baty (L), & Taylor (R).

Enjoy today's game 😊
Against a lefty. Let’s see him do it versus a righty.
+1
I think we can get something for J.D. around the trade deadline. Two things are for sure: He's a good influence on those around him and he can still hit.

Keep proving them wrong, kid.

Great point Mike.

Did you really have to jinx it?
Is it a blown save if you blow a game in a non-save situation like that? I can't believe I have to ask that. He has been struggling.
Lol don't be stupid. Can't question the contract.
Can be frustrated that the injury seems to have broken him.

It was fair to question. A lot of money and years for a closer.

Keith was adamant about this being a terrible loss on air. This is BAAAD. Diaz can't be closing games at the moment. He ain't right.
it doesn't help I had Severino starting in fantasy baseball and Diaz as one of my relief pitchers.

Brutal luck with Diaz as your closer. He's got to be killing your ratios.

yes, he's been brutal. I have him as a 21st round keeper, and that's starting to look like an overpay.

I remember we tried to tell not to keep him.

Whoever this clown is, he's so obviously not a Met fan and a troll. Please don't respond to him so he can resume Fortnight in his parents basement.

I kept Diaz over Alvarez in the 23rd. that wouldn't have worked out much better. To make matters worse I did re-draft Alvarez, lol. And I have Lindor. It's like double the pain.

I feel your pain.
WTF?
I'd hate to think that freak injury cooked his entire career, but I don't know. It's not looking good.
The important part is that they allow him to naturally build back up and for him to NOT overcompensate or change his mechanics which could cause injury at the base of the elbow.

I think you are absolutely correct. Diaz needs time and management should not overwork him during this period.

Wrong. At least I'll know now not to take you seriously on BBI. Being critical means you aren't a fan? Laughable.
He didn't throw another pitch in a real game until March 30, 2024.
Of course every patient is different, but I don't think it's physical anymore. The recovery time for an ACL is 9-12 months for a running back who needs to plant and cut on the knee while the propulsion from pitching also puts torque and pressure on the knee it certainly shouldn't be a longer recovery time. Pitchers, like was the case with Diaz, begin pitching 5 to 6 months post surgery (which is why there was some discussion about Diaz pitching the end of last year) he has since has 6 more months to build up strength in the knee.
His issue, like he has said including yesterday, is likely mental and mechanics.
My strength was like 1/2 at that time. Dead arm is now joke and a major red flag that your not ready.

Good post Rory. I was chatting with my buddy yesterday about this. My friend was good enough to get a tryout with the Pirates years ago, so I respect his take on things as much if not more than anyone. His words to me were as follows:
-Diaz ain't right after the injury.
-Bad control; no confidence.
-fastball less velocity.
-He had an ACL injury like Diaz and observed that Diaz isn't comfortable yet with the leg.
-He also said that it takes more time and repetition to be back at full strength.
-He also mentioned that the mound he got injured on in Miami may have been in the back of his mound unfortunately due to bad memories there.
Bottom line: this is gonna take some time. This is not something that will go away soon with Diaz.

he tore his patellar not his acl. its a much less common injury so recovery/rehab isn't as much of a known thing compared to acls.

Ah, ok.
