Nervous, but confident.
Let's see what these guys have left in the tank.
LW_Giants : 5/19/2024 10:12 am : link
They've faced adversity all year, do they have one more gutty performance in them?

Last game 7 at MSG was 29 years ago, Pacers beat the Knicks that game. Time for some revenge.

Win the rebounding battle, win the game.
If Hart and OG can play
Mike in NY : 5/19/2024 10:12 am : link
I would feel more confident. If they can’t play I do not see Knicks matching up.
Give us a few more games to watch!

Love this squad.
OG giving it a go would be huge
Mike in NJ : 5/19/2024 10:17 am : link
They haven’t had a great answer for Siakam ever since he went down. Pulling Hartenstein out to defend Siakam creates too much of a disadvantage on the boards, especially if Hart isn’t his normal self. Have to think Thibs comes up with an adjustment game 7 to make up for it.
Brunson had the rough second quarter in game 6, and that’s where they fell behind, but most of the difference in the game was getting crushed on the boards. That can’t happen again, Knicks need to outwork and out hustle the Pacers.
Well we know it would take a pack of sumo wrestlers
Stu11 : 5/19/2024 10:22 am : link
On top of Hart to keep him from playing in a game 7, so we know he'll give it a go. How effective he is remains to be seen. All indications are OG will attempt to give it a go. Let's hope. This team has guts and hopefully the Garden crowd will pull them through it and intimidate the Pacers enough. This is not the Reggie Miller Pacers that thrived on being the villains. This group is front running and soft. If everything is going well and they are shooting great like Friday they can maybe win but the minute things go south they can be overwhelmed.
Marc Davis is on the game tonight
Mike in NJ : 5/19/2024 10:25 am : link
He was part of the crew that worked game 2 which then led to Carlisle going on his rant about small markets getting shafted by the officials.

Not sure if this is good for the Knicks or if you see the way the game is called impacted by the comments after game 2. Hopefully Davis gives Carlisle a big middle finger for calling them out after game 2.
I’m not particularly confident
Chris684 : 5/19/2024 10:28 am : link
But then again, I wasn’t after game 4 either. However, when you lose the guy who is basically the pulse of the team and we have no idea how he is going to respond today, it might be too tall a task.

However, if he and/or OG are more effective than expected, I think we take it.
Would be huge if OG and Hart played
Doubledeuce22 : 5/19/2024 10:30 am : link
Let's go!!!

People obsessing on the officials in this series has been far too overblown. They've had their ups and downs but really haven't favored either team over the other.
Let’s go Knicks!
mfsd : 5/19/2024 10:40 am : link
Finish this
The Siakam thing probably comes down to how he shoots.
Stu11 : 5/19/2024 10:44 am : link
He wasn't destroying them around the rim Friday, it was more him knocking down those mid range jumpers. We need him to be cooler than he was Friday. Stopping him is tough especially with our best defenders out or physically compromised.

The way the game is officiated absolutely makes a difference. If Indiana is allowed to play physical with Brunson, hand check him on the perimeter, body him in the lane, it’s going to be a lot bigger challenge for the Knicks compared to a game that’s called tighter.
It would be nice if the Pacers for once had a bad shooting game
LW_Giants : 5/19/2024 10:51 am : link
I feel like they've shot well from 3 every single game this series.

Spoiler alert- they're going to let them body him up. They have through both series. They are allowing a lot of contact both ways. It is what it is. We play hard and hit the boards we'll win. They're not gonna suddenly call it tight when they've let them play physically in the East all playoff.

Well put. I'd love to see Halliburton hazed on his way out of the Garden in shame after a loss today. Contemptible player.
I’m actually very confident regardless of who plays
shockeyisthebest8056 : 5/19/2024 11:30 am : link
because I expect the defensive intensity to be at a fever pitch and I still believe the Knicks can score when they want against the Pacers under normal circumstances (meaning an inexplicable Brunson or DDV cooler.)

I expect Brunson to elevate his game and I believe that the coaching staff will get DDV going early. I think Deuce also plays well.

The Knicks need Hartenstein and Precious to be active on the glass and protecting the rim. Hartenstein has been caught in between too many times with not contesting Myles Turner on the perimeter but also totally abandoning his responsibilities on the glass and in help defense. He needs 12-15 rebounds minimum.

Thibs defense is going to prefer possibly open 3 looks (with late scrambling to contest) to uncontested drives. Unfortunately, Haliburton, Nembhard, Turner, and Sheppard are all shooting WAAAAYYYYY above their regular season averages.
As always the key to this game is ball movement by the offense.
robbieballs2003 : 5/19/2024 11:37 am : link
That leads to better effort on the defensive end. The other issue is Hart. It isn't as simple as Hart playing. He played last game. We need a full team effort on the boards. What was the rebounding last game? 44-33 in favor of Indy? That is a direct connection to Hart not being himself. Other guys need to help.
I thought Hart was pretty questionable to play today

ESPN Sources: New York’s OG Anunoby (hamstring strain) and Josh Hart (abdominal strain) are on course to play Game 7 vs. Indiana — with a final determination looming closer to 3:30 PM ET tip on ABC. Both will participate in walk-thru at MSG.

I am at an AAU tournament in Iowa and my daughter's last game starts at 3:40 eastern.
I feel really good about this team not letting this slipping away at the garden.
Thibs isn’t the type to ease anyone into anything.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 5/19/2024 12:35 pm : link
I’d go rather conservatively with Hart and OG. Start one and split the playing time. I hate to say it but I seriously doubt OG is ready for this.

Nervous. I won’t harbor an ounce of anger or disappointment in the team if it doesn’t end well today. I’ll just be fucking depressed and sad.

Just bring the energy. Hit shots. Win.

If nothing else, having them out there forces Indy to game plan a little differently. But with the way they push the pace, a gimpy OG may be more of a liability if he can’t get up and down the court well

Fired up he and Hart are trying to give it a go. This team has sure has guts

How the heck would you know this? None of us have any idea how significant the strain was. It’s possible he’s not quite ready I suppose but I’ll defer to the docs that actually examine him to make that decision
Rebounds and fouls shots.

Optimism. Hope. It's all we have.
Nobody can be mad at the season
Big Rick in FL : 5/19/2024 3:32 pm : link
The Knicks had. They're 1 game away from the ECF with a shit ton of injuries. If they can stay healthy they have to be considered legit title contenders.
OG even at 70-80 will be a big plus on defense
steve in ky : 5/19/2024 3:35 pm : link
He likely will do less driving to the hoop on offense but his corner three’s will help

Hopefully Hart can rebound and bring some energy but I’m more leery about him, just not much time for him to have healed
