One of the most storied franchises has caused so much backlash. The comments across the media are mind numbing. Is society becoming this dumb?!
“These are not Giants colors” These are literally Giants colors
“Trying to copy the Canadians” These are the Giants original color scheme from the 20’s (pretty much the exact Jersey)
“Who thought this color scheme was good?” Someone 100 years ago
“Tan pants?! Gross” original pants the Giants wore (khaki legit goes with any shirt color)
“Why didn’t they choose the 80’s uniform?” We are a 100 year old franchise paying homage to our storied past.
How have people become so decisive? For a brand to last 100 years is incredibly impressive. For a brand to pay homage to the originators is the ultimate sign of respect. I grew up with the 80’s Giants logo and I love it, but paying homage to our elders who are no longer here ties all Giants fans and players of the past to present day. Between social media comments from clueless fans as well as clueless comments from Giants fans it only leads me to think that being negative someone is a new sickness.
I think I'm one of the few that actually like them. But some people don't understand the concept of subjectivity or opinion versus fact. It's one thing to not be into the design which is totally fine, but acting like it's the end of the world and not understanding the historical significance of why the design is what it is is a whole other level of being ignorant.
Moronic Assholes. Idiocracy has become a documentary
In the end it’s really just a marketing ploy by the team and the league to sell more apparel.
Some fans absolutely believe that they must wear the current year’s colors/jerseys to support the team. While that’s their prerogative, it does kind of suck to spend all that money and it’s only good for 1 year in those people’s minds.
There was a comedian, I forget who, who once said that the players change so much that we’re essentially just rooting for laundry. Maybe he was right. 😆

Yeah, was a comedian with short-lived TV show, you may remember the name: Jerry Seinfeld ;)

They are historically accurate and check every box with regard to their intent.
How people respond to the aesthetics with liking or disliking is entirely subjective.
One thing I can say honestly, you really can't judge them objectively until you see them on the field. Some opinions may change between now and later in the season when they actually wear them in a game.
They aren't historically accurate. Parts come from three different years - from 1925 to 1938. If you want to honor the 100 year anniversary, use the 1925 uniform.
That's not entirely true, the part about the pants & socks coming from 1925 is just marketing mumbo-jumbo. The 1933 pants & socks were exactly the same design, the only difference being the tone of blue in 1933 was lighter than 1925. So that's inaccurate. The pants & socks are 1933 vintage.
The change in helmet design wasn't a flippant choice, it came from necessity. The 1933 spider stripe helmet design proved to be too difficult to replicate on the modern helmet shell designs, they would have looked terrible. The wings are much easier to replicate, and in my opinion, look good. I think that was a good compromise choice.
Haha. I did correct myself in the post immediately after.
Seinfeld is so ingrained in my subconscious, that I sometimes forget what was an actual episode and what wasn’t. Sometimes art imitates life;sometimes life imitates art, and sometimes we just live in a bizarro world.
I couldn’t care less what they wear if they win
This, it's hideous.

True.
In a game, that red band around the center will look even uglier, moving in slow motion on a 350 pound lineman.
If they had gone with black and white instead of blue and red, I could just hear the jokes about Belted Galloways.
Everyone has an opinion.
Its a jersey. If your life hinges on a jersey reveal time just scroll on. And I do hope things get better.
What I do have a problem with is the grossly overpriced 1925 merchandise they are already hawking.
If the Yankees were to come out with a Highlanders alternate jersey I think it would land just as flat.
Just because it's historic doesn't mean it's going to be a hit with the fans
When the franchise does something with the obvious intent to pander to current fans, they are correctly criticized.
In this instance they are clearly honoring the fact that the team is 100 years old, by showing what was attractive 100 years ago.
Some of you would not be satisfied unless Taylor Swift penned and sang a commemorative song!
For what it is, I think they look awesome
If people don’t like it, I get it but the negative reactions by people who don’t understand the objective. Let them wallow in their stupidity.
"An expression of great respect and honor", not an elicitation to 21st Century visual appeal.
The uniform is throw-back (especially the pants) in a most honest way - when men clashed in primitive attire (especially leather helmets) - often in the mud, with no more than a couple of thousand people in the stands, if they were lucky.
So, a tip-of-our hats to you Great New York Football Giants - Grid-Iron Gladiators of Days-of-Old -
Simple but very nice.
Like the stuff just released as well. It's not permanent so all the fuss doesn't matter.
If you're going for an "old-timey" look, the colors should match the esthetic.
I think the winged helmet is a fun change of pace. I know, a lot of fans associate it with Michigan. It’s not like Michigan ownes the style.

That's the problem: no one cares what looked good 100 years ago, unless it also looks good today (like some throwback hockey jerseys).
The ruler of the roost across a variety of entertainment platforms is nostalgia. Nostalgia sells easily. These unis are historic, commemorative, and an homage to steal some adjectives used by others. What they are not however is nostalgic. And that's where I think the divide lies. If these were uniforms that 30-60 year olds grew up watching they'd be a hit. Because they were last seen before those people were born, that's why they're not liked
Personally I like historic stuff like this, but I understand those who don't.
The non-stop negativity around this fan base it ridiculous at times.
I have no way of knowing what is going on in the mind of K-Tel, or if, in fact, they make a profit from those albums, BUT it certainly has the APPEARANCE of making money off the dead.
The entire point is that they won more than 4 championships.
Your comment therein lies the problem - upset that they are honoring history before the super bowl era.
If you want ugly, Green Bay and Pittsburgh have some real doozies.

Agreed. I think these are pretty decent, especially by throwback standards.
If you can't see this, I don't know what to tell you.
I also don't agree that there is more criticism of NYG's throwbacks than there were with GB and Pitt, it's just more apparent to us because we're fans. And yes, people are going to comment on things like this, if you don't want to see negative responses, don't read the comments.
If you love the history of the team, you probably have a more positive view of these uniforms. If you're just in it for the aesthetics, it's hard to disagree with the negative reactions. Many fans don't care about how a historical uniform connects with the history of the team. They see what they think is an ugly uniform after a solid 12ish seasons of ugly football and free medium pepsis and it brings out the rage. I think it's really that simple.

This is exactly it, its celebrating 100 years which INCLUDES 4 other championship teams. Also there were a lot of great football players who did not win championships that are being honored by the jerseys.
I dont care what outsiders think, but its little embarrassing that Giants fans are so upset with them. Its our teams history and deserves celebration at the 100 year milestone.
I also know if we kick ass in these uniforms, the same people will be begging for the Giants to where them. We live in a world of ridiculous hypocrisy.
Yes it's only twice, it's a throwback, and whatever else but who cares about the history when the present (and recent history) sucks?
Why are people still dying to defend this team is a better question. Be silent, be hopeful, but how are you surprised some people hate everything about this team after it's been so poorly run??
Seriously look at the players and coaches and get excited for the season just don't think about how we're hoping to get lucky like we have in tht past bc the same clueless blue blood family that screwed up this team 50 years ago is still in charge.
The rings are a pretty cool touch though. I might pick up a box on eBay late September when we're still searching for our first win.

LOL, you are right, we should move the 100 year anniversary and wait until the team is more successful.
If you can't see this, I don't know what to tell you.
I spit laughed at this one!
Yeah, who needs democracy? Everyone should have the same opinion on the uniforms!
I’ll buy too once price comes down. However you are SPOT ON in regards to our championships! We are 8 Time World Champions! The NFL did not start in 1966.
I'll buy one. It'll most likely be from DHgate, if current 100 year merchandise pricing is any indication but I'll rock one this season. For sure. Just don't know what player.
