Also, the next step for Volpe will be coming to the plate with a plan. Too often he seems to step in there and react rather than being proactive about what he’s looking for. Any average baseball fan could have called that the third pitch he swung and missed at was going to be a slider down and away, why didn’t he know that?
Geezus Greg, clearly a good pitch and a strike and Judge knew it. His issue is trying to pull those outside pitches. If he goes with it, he hits it to RF...

Yeah, I am losing it with Torres. They need a 2nd baseman. Where is Peraza?
I thought that was more on Rizzo. Gleyber was charging in and throwing off balance. The hop was not particularly difficult and Rizzo whiffed, something he’s doing a lot of this year in the field
Mediocrity personified. I hate losing to that shitbag franchise
And to boot they were celebrating like they just won game 7 of the godamn world series. I was waiting for the dog pile. Geez after the kick in the nuts we got from the Knicks yesterday you'd think the Yanks could at least take care of us today.
RE: RE: RE: Holmes gave up on hard hit ball the entire inning

It was a bad throw and that spin on that type of throw skips it away to the right. Like I said Rizzo three years ago maybe knocks it down. And yes Rizzo has not been as good this year.
A few days ago Holmes was the greatest closer in baseball who we had to sign . Today he's a bum who we'd better replace by the trade deadline.
As I said a few days ago, Holmes is what he is. He has a great sinker and has recently added some other pitches, but he's inconsistent, rarely has a 1-2-3 inning and often gets out of jams because the Yanks make great plays behind him and the umps have made some horrible calls in his favor. Today he ran into a hitters umpire, plus some bad luck and less than optimal fielding.
Would rather get waxed 10-1 than letting up a 4-spot in the last inning.
Sux.
Really ? If we give up 10 runs it means. 1) We will have used multiple pitchers and that going to the next day, the pen is short handed. 2) Multiple pitchers will be revealed as being ineffective. Possibly one or more are injured, possibly the one or more have been figured out by the league.
If you can't be alitte ticked after your team blows a 3 run lead in the 9th inning...when can you be mad??? Like, ever? And no one here is saying anyone should be DFA'd or fired or anything crazy like that.
Routinely puts people on base before closing out. Sooner or later it catches up and costs the team. You can't have you closer frequently giving opponents a chance.
Well two dribble infield base hits and walk didn't help
Defense was horrendous.

Fucking awful job by him tonight.
Defense was horrendous.
As was he.
I don't like it but it happens
It truly was.... That and Stanton's two GIDPs....
Calm down
Were you expecting perfection for the entire year?

No, but I was expecting them to win when they had a 3 run lead in the 9th.
Sorry.

Exactly ....
Too many DPs...too many guys thrown out stealing...too many left on base.

Not a 50-50 ball at all. That was a real strike. Wasn't even on the "black", it was well on the corner. Judge didn't even look at the ump. He knew it.

Saying it was a terrible way to lose a game is throwing a fit?!

Shake it off and comeback tomorrow.
Wasted another great start, too
Wasted another great start, too
yep - the pitches were actually too good in a weird sense.
The Yanks had two or three(IIRC) broken bat base hits in the game too.
Now Weaver, who is this year's King, inspires the most confidence coming out of the pen.
Ugh.
Ugly was to end a nice winning streak.
Would rather get waxed 10-1 than letting up a 4-spot in the last inning.
Sux.

We were spoiled by Mo. Clay is a good closer just not a hall of famer.
